the Q&A suggests, with whatever level of reliability you want to associate with it, that elements are paired and [Puppet/Cat] are just technically the same element which is why the resistances work that way. but otherwise that seems to be at least part of the implications, yes.

accuracy is going to depend on whatever the ultimate answer to "how do dark worlds/dark world inhabitants have extended histories if their fountain was just created yesterday" is, which, who knows.

There might be something there, in the code there's some unused (as of chapter two) text for if you equip Noelle with Spamton's Dealmaker glasses: '(Seems... familiar?)'
