As much as I love and constantly use Sucrose in most of my teams, Venti's succ/cc is objectively better than hers for anything it can still grab.

Edit
That sprint onto the boost pad causing an angled longjump was stylish as gently caress. Punchwizard is hella fun.

It's kinda funny I figured I'd be sad about the spreadsheet dying but upon reflection I haven't actually really needed it much in awhile. I suppose I've gotten a decent sense of character builds after all this time.

It's really the constant reapplication of hydro that makes her a pain in the rear end to use. She's not the only hydro character to apply hydro to themselves, but she's the only one that renews it with each tick.

I keep forgetting this refers to a change in intonation for her English voice after the very early game since I've only ever known her to have one voice really since I've played in Japanese from Day 1. She's just had the same cutesy idol voice the whole time.

They've really moved away from challenge content in events or abyss since Inazuma so I'm not surprised the various resources for character builds or power levels have been disappearing, the game just doesn't make that stuff very valuable (in addition to the devs being actively shutting down websites that scraped stats) so the communities around them have probably shrunk over time.

On the same note, Venti was really game warping in 2.x for a lot of abyss content, the difference between having him and not having him alone could get you much better times. Doesn't matter anymore, but I still use him way more than any other Anemo character. Actually don't think I've ever used Kazuha to clear abyss, lol.

I really want them to give the option to increase world level again to sort of bring things back in sync with my largely level 90 parties now by letting me fight level 100+ tiered enemies and level up to 100 as well. I feel like 2.4 and venturing through Enkanomiya was the last time I really felt parallel to the enemy mobs and since then they haven't really been getting any stronger overall while I still have been albeit mostly in terms of leveling up talents bit by bit. The Eremites definitely make Floor 11 Chamber 1 more of a hassle then it was with the treasure hunters though. Again as well, the beta leaks clearly show enemies that scale up to level 200 for testing purposes so it's clearly built into the games engine and stat scaling that that's a possibility.

It's kind of interesting to me how much Hoyoverse just... isn't interested in creating challenging content for Genshin. Like they put the Spiral Abyss there and then that's about it. There's potentially some room for like a horde mode, or an endless dungeon roguelike thing, or a bunch of other stuff that might hook different kinds of players without requiring much (or any) new asset creation, but they're just not interested in doing it.

That's not really a complaint so much as an observation, for what it's worth. It's interesting to see a gacha game so committed to really, actually just being about exploration and story.

And maybe it's just because, at its core, there's only so much you can do with the way Genshin's combat is designed compared to something with more demanding action systems. Instead of trying to hammer a challenge mode into Genshin maybe they've decided it's better to make something like Zenless Zone Zero instead.

Also Zenless Zone Zero looks really fun and looks like something I might have an easier time getting into than Punishing Gray Raven (owing mostly to PGR being built entirely around being played with touch controls on a phone and I just really don't like using touch controls on 3D action games even when they're totally built around it)

I like Honkai's roguelike mode pretty well, although the previous limited event versions of it were better. I'd be on board for something like that in Genshin.

They can still have a World level 9 though for players that have been playing since the beginning and have what amount to more or less complete characters at level 90 with level 10 talents and poo poo. A lot of the character levelling mats only go up to 4 star rarity as well so it's like the capacity is there for another tier. Maybe now that they've started integrating the seventh element into the game it's possible to take that next step...or maybe they just do want it to be about exploration and story though. I'm fine with that, but I definitely would like that option to ascend again. They can put a new domain in Natlan for world level 9 ascension or something because I have a feeling the majority of people that were playing the game in the first year will be hitting adventure level 60 by the time Sumeru is wrapped up. I've been playing the game fairly actively since March 2021 and am about 2/3 of the way to adventure rank level 59 now for example and kind of expect to hit 60 some time around January/February next year.

Midgame is still roughest part of Genshin imo and wish there was to make it better, but since grinding is what keeps people playing, I doubt they'll improve that.

The fights do become pretty trivial and boring. I have no idea if the abyss 12 chicken has, like, mechanics and stuff.

But that's better for me becuase overworld is the real genshin for me, and being that strong lets me run stuff like Dodoco Tales Klee and Fading Twilight Ganyu for the fashion.

Edit: Wait I wonder if I can do something that feels smooth with White Tassel Shenhe...

Take a leaf from the Arknights book and give us a permanent roguelike mode with broken character bonuses and some tough stages. 40% attack speed? Charge Attacks cost no stamina? +200% swirl effect distance? Why the gently caress not, but enjoy fighting two ruin serpents and a perpetual mechanical array at once.

Then slap in some monthly pre-built trial squads and dish out some resources every month for doing a couple runs.

Mihoyo just continuing to crank out these animation videos for their games. Spoilers for Honkai Elysian Realm here. The thumbnail gradient on the front page for their youtube channel is aggressively pink at the moment. I'm still wondering if this character is eventually going to get some sort of expy in Genshin down the line now cause she seems insanely popular. At the same time though we've seen what happens when the fans in China feel they aren't "doing it right" with the characters like with the bunny girl music video thing so it probably couldn't just be a token expy.

e: BTW does anyone know if the music track from the Mondstadt portion of 3.1 is in the game currently or is it brand new for that event because I really liked that arrangement.

She's a Herrscher, which means if she gets a Genshin expy she will almost definitely be an Archon.
And she already has the water theming in her new form and the ray and the whole "Like Kokomi but way cooler" thing.

So personally I'm expecting the hydro Archon to be Elysia.

The worst part about this game is that they make you mash the jump button every time you get frozen, which is not only irritating due to the button mashing in and of itself, but is even worse because you usually waste time jumping at the end of it. Using Barbara is absolute torture.

The second worst part about this game is that anemo crystalfly that spawns right on top of the closest waypoint to Dawn Winery, with the UI defaulting to using the Statue of the Seven instead of picking up the crystalfly.

YES. I loving hate button spamming. It's bad enough to be held, but to demand to button mash to be unheld... wtf

Play with sayu and learn patience. You can walk up to them, get them both to appear in your pickup screen, and then nab them quick and then jump down to grab the third. There's a fourth a bit behind them on a crumbled stone wall if you're collecting.

Whenever I think about this game being a AAA title, I'm almost instantly reminded whenever I try to climb anything.

In addition to above, extra bonus points for not being able to let go of a wall, grabbing onto something when you're trying to fight, or being stuck in the climbing animation horizontally. The new roots on mountains/wall scenery has given lots of new opportunities to find new climbing jank.

They did put stamina flowers in the game now, which is a marked improvement

Harrow

The stamina flowers are really cool. It took me an embarrassingly long amount of time to notice what they were doing lol, I kept thinking they were some kind of "collect all the glowing flowers and a chest will appear" thing. I really like them as an inclusion.

Sumeru in general rules. The four-leaf sigil things are a blast.
