I wish people who played Stardew played Rune Factory 4 because it shits all over it. Stardew is like a mad rush to get anything done in-between interacting with cardboard cutout characters and trying to stumble into their random events. Rune Factory feels a million times more lively and nicer to play despite being like ten years older.

well i mean the thing is i'm an old person and maybe all this poo poo is super cool and i'm just out of touch but on it's face it just always comes back to it being skeevy as hell and i don't know why we have to keep looping around here when there's a perfectly good place to get food down the street

Rune Factory has a general issue with the romanceables looking kinda small and underage, which extends to the protagonists as well. This is less of a problem with the male dateables in 4 and 5 (iirc the earlier ones didn't have the option to play as a girl). There's plenty of more mature ladies but with few exceptions they are undateable.

Rune Factory 5 lets you get gay married though, so that's cool.

IIRC there are cut lines in RF5 for one of the older women that hinted at being able to romance her. You can romance her brother, but not her. Can't have older women be an option in these games.

Well I sure don�t suggest reading the cp2077 thread where people try and justify the 12 year old (looking) murder girl in a Bikini is actually ok because she acts older and her Japanese voice actor sounds older.

In any case the romance in Rune Factory is always player initiated so you never have to engage with it if you don't want to. RF3 has a couple of questionable characters but I can't imagine anyone romancing them over the cool elf that yells RAINBOW and fights with a giant brush.
