First is way too heavy, unless you are doing something weird like use a light outline and they are 'powering up' - as it really pulls the character out of the scene. Shading - your shading work is messy around the edges. You have a fear of overlapping the edge of the legs for example that makes your brush strokes end too early and it is noticeable. It needs to be darkest next to the line itself. Use vector masks so that any brush stuff cannot affect outside the outline, and then go crazy. Big brushes, strokes that the center doesn't even go over the actual fill area but the feathered edge does, etc. You can always use a subtle (~10% contrast) oval vector gradient in the colour blocks to give a subtle hint of 'bulge' that I find helps get away from things feeling flat. Background shading - have a read up on 'ambient occlusion' and how that is used in computer graphics to make things feel more solid and together with a simple technique. Apply shading in a similar way - imagine you are that point in the world looking around - how much sky/light do you see. Compare a point in the middle of a wall with an interior corner - the corner gets 1/4 of the ambient light that the middle sees. An exterior corner sees 75% more light than the flat wall does. Some simple gradient work can give this sort of subtle variance over large areas and help give the subtle visual clues that make stuff feel more voluminous. Story-wise.. I think you are expositing a bit much now, action needed. 'Killer' ain't killed nothing for a long while. I went to check on the comic and I want to note that ttb has graciously not included a page involving the child in a bathtub (which doesn't involve nudity or anything scandalous but is also... Not something I wanted to see). I read ahead a little but it seems that the artist does not depict the child as a sexual object and more like a "helpless cute anime", and definitely nowhere in the realm of that abyss anime thing. I believe some people would enjoy it so I'm not imposing a hard ban on the comic but maybe... You can post a link to it I suppose? With warnings? Idk the comic wasn't my thing at all it was mostly girl with cute horror cat thing and I quit after page 20 or so.

That poo poo’s abhorrent and too commonly accepted in the manga/anime community. I’ve read all of Kuro and the author’s current series, Shadows House, which doesn’t, to my eyes, sexualize kids at all. The offending picture didn’t seem like an upskirt to me, I was more focused on the monster later in the page. I won’t keep posting Kuro
