I usually just throw as many different letters as I can out there on my first 3 or 4 guesses. I don't get too many 2s or 3s doing it that way but I solve a lot of puzzles, lol. Playing that way also helps avoid many situations where you have 3 or 4 guesses left but 5 or 6 possible words.
