idk anything about the interview but you wouldn’t find it at all weird if a musician was unfamiliar with the music they sampled in their own music?

i would

but it could be that the musician was high af on some research chemicals while they made the track and did not want to go in details about this part of the workflow publicly

it could also be like one of those big old masters who at some point let their students do the painting and later just signed it (i forget the name but might have been rembrandt). hell didnt damien hirst just get into trouble by having his assistants do all the work?

i remember reading there was a super famous carlos santana track where you had different people work on vocals, chorus, verse like its a car you assemble from ready made parts. going to bet santana just had some producer worry about the details

so being ignorant of the details of how your art/track is made is probably quite common. but i agree that flatly admitting that you dont know wtf is going on in an interview is a dumbass move indeed

Elon's dad has been talking to the press lately and I'm going to quote the whole thing in its entirety because it's wild (and also paywalled)

he's a huge piece of poo poo, but every time he talks to the press it's a emerald mine goldmine for content

https://twitter.com/BusinessInsider/status/1572618934846902278

quote:

Elon Musk's father, Errol Musk, is supportive of his billionaire son having more children.

"I can't see any reason why Elon should not have more children," Errol Musk said. "The monarchies of the past thought nothing of having children — and they were all illegitimate," he added. "About 80% of them were illegitimate in Europe, you know — 20 or 30 children. You've got the money and you're a king or something, why shouldn't you?"

In July, Insider exclusively reported that Elon Musk, 51, had twins in November with Shivon Zilis, a 36-year-old executive at his brain-computer-interface company, Neuralink. The babies join his growing brood.

The Tesla founder has another set of twins, Vivian and Griffin, 18, and triplets, Kai, Saxon, and Damian, 16, from his first marriage, to the author Justine Musk. In 2020, the musician Grimes gave birth to their first child, a son, X Æ A-Xii, and they welcomed a daughter, Exa Dark Sideræl, via a surrogate in December, weeks after the birth of Zilis and Musk's twins. (Elon and Justine Musk's firstborn, Nevada, died of sudden infant death syndrome in 2002.)

During a recent phone call with Insider, Errol Musk said his son "officially" has 10 children.

Errol Musk, 79, praised Elon Musk's choice to procreate with Zilis. "I think she's a very smart girl," he said, "and, you know, if you want your children smart, you more than likely would like your wife to be quite smart." (Elon Musk and Zilis have never married.)

In August, Reuters reported that Zilis told colleagues she'd conceived the twins via in vitro fertilization and that she and Elon Musk were not romantically involved. Errol Musk said he didn't know the details of their relationship but surmised that "they came to an arrangement."

"I can't ask him a question like that, you know. 'How did you do it?'" he said. "I mean, it's rather personal, isn't it?"

Elon Musk was born in 1971 to Errol and Maye Musk, a model, in Pretoria, South Africa. The two divorced in 1979. Errol Musk, whom Elon Musk has said possesses an unusually high IQ, ran a successful engineering business and subjected his children to rigorous at-home education on top of their schooling.

In 2017, Elon Musk told Rolling Stone that his father was "such a terrible human being." The SpaceX founder's official biography, which was published that year, said Elon and Justine Musk had "vowed that their children will not be allowed to meet Errol." But Errol Musk told Insider that he'd watched Damian play the piano as a young child in Bel Air and that he'd visited his son in Texas as recently as last winter, when he met Exa Dark Sideræl.

In an appearance on an Australian radio show in July, Errol Musk responded to recent paparazzi photos of a shirtless Elon Musk by saying, "Elon is very well built, and he's very, very strongly built, but he's been eating badly." When the interviewer asked whether he was proud of his son, Errol Musk replied: "No. Well, you know, we are a family that have been doing a lot of things for a long time. It's not as though we suddenly started doing something." He later said he'd misheard the question.

Errol Musk told the Daily Mail that his son had texted him days later, ''Dad, the press play you like a fiddle so please keep quiet."

Despite their differences, Elon and Errol Musk share a concern about the future of the global population.

Since 2017, Elon Musk has used his platform to draw attention to declining birth rates, particularly in developed countries. On May 24, he tweeted, "Population collapse is the biggest threat to civilization." Demographers have argued that that's an overstatement.

He has suggested that declining birth rates among wealthy and highly intelligent people represent a significant part of the problem. "Statistically, the richer someone is, the fewer kids they have," he said in a tweet in June. A few days later, he directed his followers to watch the opening scene of "Idiocracy," a 2006 film about the dumbing down of Earth's population. Of his own expanding family, he has said, "I'm trying to set a good example!"
In his interview with Insider, Errol Musk took an even more controversial stance.

"The general growth of population seems out of bounds, but it's not growing in the countries where one would like it to grow, but rather in places where they have to be supported later by the countries in which there's very low population growth," he said.

He expressed concern about falling birth rates in what he called "productive nations" like Italy, Canada, and Germany. He added, "These other nations are people that — you know, if one wants to call a spade a spade, are not really productive nations, are having 15 kids per couple."

While he did not claim to speak for his son, Errol Musk said it was a topic they'd discussed over the years. (In response to Insider's request for an interview about population decline, Elon Musk responded with two "rolling on the floor laughing" emojis.)

The elder Musk, who has seven of his own children, claimed that he was recently approached by a Colombian company to donate his sperm. He told Insider that he ultimately declined the offer, as he's uncomfortable with the idea of his biological children not knowing his identity.

Errol Musk made headlines this summer when it was revealed that he'd welcomed a second child with his stepdaughter, Jana Bezuidenhout, whom he dated as an adult after helping raise her from the age of 4. However, he says he has no plans to continue having children.

"You know, I'm pretty old," he said. "It's not fair on the child when I probably won't be around."
Errol Musk said he wanted to see his famous son settle down.

"He's always in the air," he said. "The last time we were talking about this, Elon said to me, 'You know, I've spent one night in three weeks at the place I can call home.'

"That's the thing that bothers me as a father. I'd like to see him have a nice partner, you know?" he added.

"I think that's also bad for his kids, because they also don't see much of him."
