My 86 year old grandfather lives just south of Okeechobee. From what it looks like they shouldn't get it too bad there but he's way too stubborn to evacuate even if they do, so...

My boss just had to fly down to Jacksonville to a dumb visit at the company HQ. Looks like Jacksonville should be fine-ish, but that's where he's from and when we got bought by a Jacksonville company, his first reaction was "gently caress, I tried my hardest to get AWAY from Jacksonville, now it pulls me back in" So I fully expect this is all just a scheme by the universe to get him killed there, so I'm expecting the course to change and for it to strengthen even more to make sure it gets him specifically.

There may be some minor damage and loss of power for a few days, but that’s usually all we have here. E: there will be a ton of rain, so tell her not to go out in the storm and to be careful driving afterwards (do not drive into large pools of standing water) and she’ll be fine.

Its creepy pulling up a GPS map of Key West and your just this blip in the ocean and you remember the 3 hours long 2 lane artery in/out of there. I went there as a clean up team for a company after Irma and I always wondered what the stories of those cars on the side of the road the next day on our way down was.... But the people who stayed, man they all had stories you'd hear on CNN, every one of them in closets making peace with the end of their lives, loving PTSD for sure. Can't speak for Hillsborough but here in Pinellas there's plenty of non-evac zones. Evacuating out of Zone A to Zone D was only a ten minute drive and my family's place is on the border of the non-evac area so I'm not terribly worried. Hoping my house doesn't get giga flooded while I'm gone since this seems like the first time in recent memory Pinellas has actually had to worry about storm surge. I stayed here during Irma too and all that happened to my Zone A neighborhood was a palm tree getting knocked over onto a fence. I definitely still want to leave Florida when I'm able to. While I appreciate having family to stay with I have already had to sit through one "DEMONCRATS" rant from my antediluvian aunt.
