I wish I knew how to make assets, I'd build "growable" parking lots for high density lots that level up into parking garages.

The whole unlock system is a totally not fun slog, just turn it off and build what you want.

I'm very confused about what's happening here. This is a 2x2 building, but it's taking a 2x4 lot because ????? It's not just a display thing either, you can't build in the empty part. If I plop the building it's 2x2 as it should be. A ton of buildings are doing this. I've never seen it before and don't even have a clue where to start here. But why did it never do it before? Is this new or were mods stopping it? I guess I can just zone half the block then do the other half once the first grows in but that's almost as annoying as just plopping everything. Ugh. I hate everything about how zoning is done in this game. And this is one area where SC4 also sucks, you block out a big zone for a specific large building and the game will just divide it up and grow other bullshit in there that you didn't want. Stop changing my loving zoning! I zoned that way for a reason! I'm putting in all the roads set to zone two squares instead of four with zoning adjuster, if that matters. One of the mods I had to get rid of because of the DLC must've done something about it. I looked at old screenshots just to check that I'm not crazy and my last city did not have these giant empty lots everywhere. Anyway it answered my question, mostly needed to know if it was a mod conflict. Not much I can do about lovely decisions by the designers.

I would bet that, in that screenshot, you have 4 squares zoned off of the left street, and zero on the right street, so it's growing with a frontage at the left street and just backyarding the rest, since you can't build off of the right street as it's unzoned in that space.

Finally figured it might be OK to wade back in now and... turns out BloodyPenguin's moved on and his mods are busted now, I guess? I think after ~300 hours (plus probably 50 or 60 hours' worth of dealing with mods, of course) that's going to be all for me and Skylines. Great game.... with a fuckton of mods. The Paradox incessant-DLC revenue model and a city sim that needs copious modding to be interesting isn't a good combination for a filthy casual like me who lacks the motivation to redo all his mods every few months. If the traffic sim ever got fixed in the game then it'd be the greatest city builder of all time for me. Then again, I'm an Old who considers SC3000 the pinnacle of city building.

Unlinking them seems so simple and would seem to get you most of the way there to make the city management aspect remotely interesting. The plaza and promenades DLC service points are loving cheating. I like it. The service point doesn't need to actually have any road access to a pedestrian area. It teleports garbage and goods from buildings to the service point, so all garbage trucks and goods trucks go there. The developers probably intended for the service point to be at the edge of the pedestrian area on a 4 or 6 lane road, but I lay down a long tentacle of pedestrian zone to a highway. Service point has its own one direction road and ramps to the highway. Huge amount of trucks running smoothly to the service point while my beautiful pedestrian zone remains truck free. The only thing I don't like is residents will walk all the way to the edge of a pedestrian zone and pull out a pocket car if you let them. I keep residential areas completely disconnected from the wider road and highway network, but I did that anyways. The only way in and out of my soviet blocks is by metro and trams.

I thought VR was for porn. How are they going to get porn working in Cities Skylines? Isn't it just going to be giant fetish porn? Or will we be able to shrink down to the size of citizens?

If move it, network multitool and anarchy mods are built into skylines 2 then that game is going to suck rear end. They're bandaid fixes for problems with the ways that the positions of networks and assets are handled in CS1. They shouldn't need exist in a decent sequel at all.
