You're talking about something that is an entire generation removed from today's methods of making reality TV. Nobody on that show "acts" like modern reality TV contestants because they weren't brought up watching other people on Reality TV. it's sincerely a very good time capsule of people in that era BECAUSE it pre-dates so much of what would become considered normal for "Reality TV".
