Walla posted:Sometimes I think my son and I may be, there's too many similar indicators between autism and adhd to be completely sure. so much so that the entire reason i got my autism diagnosis was because the ADHD clinic i got sent to had a perceptive inpatient psych who wrote up a referral i think the more common differentiation comes from social dimensions - ADHD kids tend to be excessively social to a point other kids find overwhelming, whereas autistic kids are withdrawn and aloof - and that ADHD usually hews more to externalizing rather than internalizing (re: anxiety/depression), but it's a muddy field to wade through and is rarely so cut and dry

I got diagnosed with ADHD by my school counselor, but my mom thought that was bullshit and brought me to an independent therapist who diagnosed me with high functioning autism. She seemed happier with that diagnosis for some reason

Similar to how many kids with dyslexia are seen as lazy or slow. IMHO Also Vermain, that's a good post but I don't have any other response for it.

there's a demo for a new korean ARPG called UNDECEMBER on steam this week and i played about 3 hours of it and i gotta say despite all the usual korean free to play cruft it's got some cool stuff to play with there's no character classes, you just allocate your stats between str/dex/int and pick your skill runes, which similar to path of exile can be linked with support runes to upgrade or alter the skill in some way like adding more projectiles or increasing the aoe, or the best one which is triggering another skill when you cast it  you gotta lay them all out on this grid, match up the colors, line up the arrows, chain things between skills, etc, and you can spend various rune shuffling orb things to change the different color slots on your runes to make them fit it seems really neat, and it comes out next week, so i'm looking forward to it. i dunno if i'll drop any money on it, we'll see what freebies they hand out at launch (for example your mini-pet can auto loot everything for you, which normally costs RMT currency to activate but they give you a week of it for free in the demo as part of a story reward. standard korean style stuff) it feels like another Lost Ark minus some of the MMO stuff, which is totally fine. i had a good time leveling up in LA and then just being done with it. i'll probably do the same with this one.

Despite all the positive hands-on impressions and trailers and footage shown, I'm still not excited for Sonic Frontiers. Maybe I'm just keeping my expectations in check so much so that I don't want to feel excitement until reviews drop and it's official that the game is good because I don't want to be disappointed with this. I was against Lost World's concept since it ditched Generations' formula, but came around and was excited for it before it released. Reviews dropped and fan reception was mixed, so I didn't touch it. Same thing with Sonic Boom, was really looking forward to the development since it wasn't Sonic Team, but that rush to launch resulted in a disaster of a game. Again, didn't touch it. Was happy Forces returned to Generations formula, but was disappointed in Classic Sonic returning. I stayed positive, but immediately stopped caring when the avatar character was announced. Never got Mania because I didn't grow up with the OG games and hadn't played them either, so didn't feel right to get Mania without playing the originals. I am really hoping Frontiers is good. I want to get another Sonic game again and want to believe in Sonic Team, I just really hope they get this one right.

Today I have finished Prodeus! That was a pretty cool experience, even if the last couple levels did seem to drag on a little. Very nice little retro shooter. So far in 2022 I have completed: Horizon Zero Dawn (PS5) Windjammers 2 Nobody Saves the World Returnal Horizon Forbidden West Elden Ring Demon's Souls (2020) Dark Souls 2 TMNT: Shredder's Revenge Stray Diablo II Resurrected Immortality Prodeus Up Next: A Plague Tale: Requiem
