End of Chapter 6: NIAAA! I knew she wasn't dead, no way they introduce a character like that just to have her die off in a cutscene. The story continues to be bonkers while remaining somewhat understandable?? I've never seen anything like this before lol. Like I understand where things are going, but it's impossible to explain

just yestetday the wife asked me what the game was about. I got as far as "ok, well, this is the third game. In the first one..." before she gave up and said she'd just read the Wikipedia article

I know I'm way behind everyone now, but the fight against evil fake Noah is the worst case of "boss is pathetically weak in the battle and then invincible in the cutscene afterwards" I've ever seen

fell off of a this for a while bc of doom addiction but started playing again this weekend and instantly remembered how much fun it is. The cave campsite where you're learning more about manana and Riku is absolutely gorgeous, coolest area I've seen so far

I am in chapter 3 and really enjoying this game. I did not play any of the previous ones for any significant length of time because they seemed very overwhelming, but the tutorials and drills made it easy and pleasant to keep up with it as more systems were added one by one. Now I feel like I know what I'm doing as the game opens up and enters what appears to be its main phase.

It seems that some of the classes are much more fun to control than others, so I like to swap my party leader around to be whoever's in one of my favorites. So far none of the defender classes have really clicked for me, but I have faith that my party will befriend someone who has a good one one day.

I will continue to keep you informed of my impressions as I proceed through the game. Thank you for reading this post.

I pretty much only ever played attack classes, and only the faster ones. Stalker/Ogre? No thank you. The auto attack speed gem I spent my gold nopon coins on helped a lot, but it also made the fast classes even better, so..

Ogre can be fun I guess when you get a good fusion art chain going, but by then 90% of the fights are over already

after 41 hours and 55 minutes I have finished Chapter 3. Everyone is level 49 I didn't even really take damage during the boss fights, I'm gonna just beeline the story for a while until it catches up I guess

The ascension quests are worth doing asap, not only for unlocking the last 10 levels for the class, but they're actually pretty involved side stories that can unlock new areas/bosses/characters you otherwise would have no idea existed

Most of them unlock in Chapter 6 but there's a few before that

there's a update out that lets you save party loadouts. Class, arts & accessories, 15 slots and you can name the loadouts w/e. Patient Gamer strikes back.

Ch 4 has been consistently awesome, between the zone design, the story cutscenes and look of each new environment...Think this is shaping up to be the best JRPG I've played since dqxi

the chapter 4 part fighting in front of the annihilator was sick...casually introducing the idea that the interlink robos can just have their limbs ripped off and poo poo was pretty cool. So curious what's up with Eunie's story...

can't wait to go back over this thread and empty quote all the redacted documents once I finish it

I have just made it to the start of chapter 4, and it seems to be foreshadowing some pretty wild twists and cool fights. However, I am so overleveled that classes unlock very slowly now. I think that I will start using silver nopon coins to unlock them, because otherwise one of my party members will have mastered a class before any of the others can use it at all.

...but is it art?

I can't believe that (chapter 5) you get a whole ocean to explore...plus finallt getting to explore a fully featured JRPG city + I really like Noah and the gang acting like the biggest Dumbfucks imaginable trying to figure out like, what a Dad is lol.

This game is way better than I ever expected and it keeps surprising me

This chapter is going to drive me insane. Up to this point I meticulously filled in the map for every I could go w/o bumping into overpowered monsters...but idk if it's possible to fill in every square of ocean with the way this boat handles.

I specifically remember 2 areas that were inaccessible until later. One was full of giant high lvl monsters and the other was full of poison

Just beat the game. I think it gets a little preachy, but the whole game spends time layering and building on the theme from every angle so the message feels totally earned in the end.
Incredible, what an adventure, amazing characters, definitely lumping this in with chrono trigger and FFV as one of my favorite RPG's ever.
