hatty posted:I don’t think I’ve ever had a full cup of coffee, just a sip or two usually i can drink 200mg cups on the reg with no real issue the secret with coffee is mostly consistency: the anxiogenic effects are one of the first things your body develops tolerance to, and it's a nearly complete tolerance, too, so once you push past that and start having it regularly it just becomes a drink that makes you feel pretty good

Hot chocolate is good when it's the proper stuff you mix with hot milk. Instant hot chocolate tastes crap. Ovaltine is nice too.

I’ve been making my own shakes for a while in a small personal blender and I’ve gotten quite good at it. It was hard to pin down my preferred ratio but I got it where I like it

I usually quit for 2 months out of the year, 1 month in autumn and 1 month in spring. It's nice to feel undilated time again for a while as the seasons change. When brewed properly, the naturally bitter character of the dried/roasted coffee cherry also yields other complex flavors based on its processing method and microclimate diversity. A fresh single origin coffee can taste like a dozen different things. I didn't drink coffee at all until my 30's but really enjoyed learning about the intricacies of the trade, and it helped ease shyness / social anxiety. The complex effect alkaloids in brewed coffee have on the brain is still not fully understood, and similar to tea you cannot achieve the same effects or health benefits by slamming caffeine pills or sugar soda. Basically, coffee has a mystical interaction with the human brain and I love it. I hope climate change doesn't destroy every good strain of coffee on this planet but it probably will, so enjoy it while it still exists. edit; I also want to say that I was already coming out of the deeper depressions in my 20s but coffee really has helped mediate resurgences of that aspect of my personality in the last decade, both in a chemical and ritual manner, 'going out' for coffee can have a great impact on my week as far as human interaction is concerned and it has permanently curtailed almost all alcohol habit that I maintained during my college years. /beanpost BeanpolePeckerwood fucked around with this message at 20:34 on Oct 10, 2022 |

Holy poo poo I want a soda stream so bad. A world where I can make myself absurd amounts of La Croix whenever I want sounds like heaven. I used to hate coffee until I got a graveyard gig after college. The caffeine was very welcome, and the coffee machine was free to use. Then during quarantine, much like how some people got really into making bread, I bought a Chemex and a french press and made that my personality for a month or two.
