I'm all for it, but why is Columbo popular again? I watched it with my dad on TV whenever there was a rerun, and even when I was a kid, most of the episodes were over 20 years old. Now I see Columbo showing up in memes and fan art everywhere, and I love it. But is it just because it's on streaming and readily available now?

The idea of a working class schlub who takes down smug ceos and politicians just resonates with modern audiences for some reason For real though, the formula where the audience sees the murder first and knows who the killer is the whole time is unique to Columbo, and it gives the audience a clear target to boo and hiss at. Every time Columbo finds a clue or asks a pointed question the audience knows that he's getting closer to the culprit, and it's fun to watch We've seen the rich and powerful get away with so much in the last few years, it's great to see them squirm

He's a great character but will bend the rules/reality to make his case. At least one such case the murderer was more compelling than her victim so it was rough to watch and I stopped binging at that point.

It reminds me of the animations from Arc System Works games, like DB Fighter Z, with the blur lines and squash and stretch. Neat that someone is trying that in a traditional animation.
