Mine are all wired together but they have plugs (in addition to batteries). If the detector or battery needs to be replaced, it takes all of 30 seconds. I highly doubt they are truly hardwired with no way to just replace an individual smoke detector.

Yeah, "wired" doesn't mean you need to flip the circuit breaker and use power tools, it just means there's a little specialized outlet and plug giving it power. You can still remove and replace it without too much trouble. Or at least that's how the American ones in my house work

Seriously though. The Builder games are actually pretty great. I kind of play them like a town simulator. It is great how room recipes work to make you create a variety of buildings. Also DQ2 is the ultimate BFF simulator.
