WWE games kinda mirror the actual product in that they care so much about "presentation" that they don't really care if the actual product is any good so the end result is it just gets more sterilized and generic as the years go on

Do football teams in the US change their club songs every year? Do they at least keep the same/similar words? Like when Fitzroy merged with Brisbane they changes the lyrics from "We are the boys from old Fitzroy" to "We are the boys from Brisbane town" kind of thing. Or do they just go with new songs every year?

there's like two or three professional teams that have anything resembling what AFL teams do as club songs. dsriggs mentioned it's more a college thing, a couple of the AFL songs are the same tune as colleges (Swans / Notre Dame comes to mind) and those are what kind of last forever. otherwise it's almost all usage of pop music in certain ways (eg taking a rock or pop song and using it for intros, or when goals are scored, things like that).

NFL wise I think only Washington has a team song/fight song, and obviously they've had to change the words around.

I don't think pro sports teams really have songs but most universities have fight songs that they've been using for decades, and they only get changed when the fans won't quit adding in profanities.
