I've got a Series S but that would mean playing on my fancy tv at 1080p. Or I could play it on my PS5 but then I'd have to actually pay for the game.

So first with Gotham Knights and now Plague Tale Requiem running at 30fps without a 60 fps performance mode, the bar has been set for this console gen?

The answer is, mate, because I want to do you slowly. There has to be a bit of sport in this for all of us. In the psychological battle stakes, we are stripped down and ready to go. I want to see those ashen-faced performances; I want more of them. I want to be encouraged. I want to see you squirm.
Do I need to know anything about the previous game for this Plague Tale thing? Might fire it up thanks to the best deal in gaming

The first game is about 8 1/2 hours, but if you want that new game smell and skip it.

It's the 14th century and you are in France. You play the big sister and your little brother has something in his blood that ends up allowing him to control rats, which is good because there are a lot of them for some reason and they are quite murderous. There was some kind of powerful cardinal who also also could do that, but he ended up losing the big rat-off in the end. Then big sister, little brother, their mother and a young alchemist-in-training end up fleeing the region. I assume the sequel takes place some time after that.

https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/634e5d3dd3bf7f618d8f88d1/Initial_Phase_2_submission.pdf

They seem very unhappy and imply that the CMA is incompetent and in the pocket of Sony. It's an entertaining read for sure.

Looks like my 1660 Super will only hit ~40fps max on low settings. Who knew this would be the game to convince me it's time for an upgrade.

Have you tried getting Xbox Series X. a Much cheaper choice.

This does look Pretty on my 3080 on Ultra at 1440p. It occasionally drop framarate to bit over 50 fps, but mostly stays on the 60-70 range.

I dunno, I’ve found it to be pretty chill, outside of bandits (which you can turn off if you want). I reset once after playing a few hours before I realized they give you plenty of time to complete the story quests. So on my second play I just slowed down. By year 4 I’ve got a pretty decent village going that’s self-sustaining, so I can go wander and explore the countryside. And with the options available, you can adjust out whatever you find tedious for the most part.

I poked around a bit at this.

- Still the same Elite 2 controller so no screenshot button, good news for whoever was mad about that.
- Similar color configuration options to the ones you get with a normal controller. You can also get buttons that are color schemed to resemble Xbox 360 or OG Xbox buttons if that's what you want.
- It comes with the base required components (two normal length concave sticks and one D-pad).
- You can customize the colors of the base, topper and rings for the sticks separately, but both sticks share the same color scheme. You can't change the style of stick you get from the default.
- The D-Pad has some metallic color options and you can choose either the round "rocker" style or the + style.
- For extra money you can laser engrave.

You also have these separate options for more money:

- Buy a pack of four paddles. They're all the same style but you can customize their color.
- Buy a pack of thumbsticks and a D-pad. Just like with the base controller, you can choose either D-Pad style and color options. For the sticks you can choose the topper color, and they all share your color choice. Note that the picture shows six sticks which I think in theory includes duplicates of the default sticks in a different color scheme.
- A carry case and charger pack. The case is black with the Xbox logo on it. You can choose the color of the Xbox logo based on a few color choices, and it also has a slot for a "recommended" color based on your controller design choices (I think to match the body color, it's the same color options as what you have for that).

If you want all three of these options there's a discounted price for the whole package. Note that this version explicitly says you only get 4 extra thumbsticks, so I think that aspect is a bit different from if you paid full price for the sticks+d-pad but not the other stuff.

Plague Tale at least is a little bit more acceptable because its not an action heavy game, theres barely any action really. Gotham Knights is a straight up 100% action heavy game, so its frame rate issues really suck, making it pretty much PC exclusive.

The last-gen versions of Gotham Knights only got cancelled around 5 months ago. Prior to that they were building the game with the intent of it running on hardware from 2013, that holds some clues as to how they're now in this mess.

Afaik it effects all versions. I have two gen 1 elites and both have rubber starting to separate from the back of the handles. I do have a death grip though…

And yeah, gyro aiming in Horizon:FW and breath of the wild is for the last 5% to perfectly nail a headshot after you use the sticks to target the enemy.

xbox one is the best
I’ve got an elite series 2 and had zero rubber coming off problems. I’ve played at least 600 hours with a tight sweaty grip

Zero chance I could return to a paddleless controller, I can’t believe I used to live like that. Appalling.

It’s one of the few things I’ve ever bought an extra warranty for though, just in case. I bought the standard one and it came with the carry case/charger - I think that comes with all of em. I don’t use it though, I just plug it in direct. Battery life is insanely long.

The only thing I don't like about using the elite controller is now I'm always questioning if I've got the ideal setup for what I'm doing. Should I make better use of switch layouts? Should I use a different acceleration curve on the right stick? What the hell does "true diagonals" mean?

I know some folks mentioned coming back to Mad Max now that it has FPS boost. Is it broken for anyone else?

I've fallen through the map 3 times now. Once in my car as I was about to ram an enemy vehicle that was parked. Once last night when I was trying to add fuel to a generator, and once more yesterday when I tried to get onto a ladder.

Is this something that could be caused by the increased FR? I remember a few wonky physics glitches where I'd get tossed off something but not just clipping through the map 3 times in 24 hours.
