48) Steredenn

Looped a blaster only run and finished with just over 8 million points. Way too much slow down on my ps3 to bother playing this again, but it was a fun challenge.

Well done! I never doubted it for a second - very nice :D

As for my (rather insignificant, compared to Mamkute's) next completion:

1) Heavy Rain
2) Hitman 3
3) Detroit: Become Human
4) A Legionary's Life
5) Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2
6) Armoured Commander II
7) DEADBOLT
8) Shadowrun: Hong Kong + 'Shadows of Hong Kong' bonus campaign
9) Gun Mute
10) A Plague Tale: Innocence
11) Hotline Miami
12) Batman: Arkham Knight
13) Intravenous
14) The Hong Kong Massacre
15) Shadwen (zero kills, zero alerts)

Not a bad stealth game, as promised by Seventh Arrow. Pretty standard in ways, but the rewind time mechanic and the grappling hook make it fun. Surprisingly good, considering the whole game is basically an escort quest! I'm thinking I'll probably go through it again quite soon, in order to 100% the game by getting the "kill everyone on each level" achievements, too

I will not shut up about the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. I talk about them all the time and work them into every conversation I have. I built a shrine in my room for the yellow one who died because sadly no one noticed because she died around 9/11. Wanna see it?

I dunno if unlocking ascension mode counts as a win but the credits rolled so... first win was with the Silent. I intended to focus on poison but ended up with lots of draw/discard and stacking strength and dex.

If you didn't kill the heart you didn't beat the game! It's so simple!

okee doke I'll work on that then. I've unlocked Ironclad ascension too, working on the defect now.

I would argue that you can't technically beat slay the spire unless you idk get a20 down with a minimalist deck or some poo poo for every character. It's a rogue like, there's no really beating it. In that case a single win probably counts as a game beat but not completed. Imo.

In Training
Jun 28, 2008

Since you can't finish roguelikes it counts as a game beat after you die once.

Fungah!
Apr 30, 2011

if you beat th heart it sounds as game beaten but obviously theres a ton more to do as "postgame". simple as

Eh, I guess it depends on the roguelike. I haven't played StS personally, but from what I've heard of it your opinion seems justified. If the roguelike in question was something more 'traditional' like Dungeons of Dredmore, then beating it once is totally beating the game, IMO. (Seeing as it's a much more linear experience, etc.)
But yeah it's a tough one, in this case! I agree though, I'd probably rate it as 'beaten but not completed', based on my limited knowledge of it. Definitely a lot of gaming meat left on the bone, though

19. Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards (100% completion/true ending)

a game i have quite a bit of nostalgia for but never even got close to beating back when, for whatever reason. easy to technically beat (aside from the fake final boss being a bitch and a half), but getting the true ending means nabbing several annoying shards that you may need to enter a different level for, in order to collect a power that isn't in the level you need it in for some reason. still very fun tho, quite a bit of charm. combining powers ftw

Noted! o7 I've got a pile to play already, but I've wishlisted it for later - I'll probably be ready for it around about when the next big sale hits.
Thanks for the suggestion, roguelikes are always good!

17 Dead Space 2- Zealot Difficulty

Really cool game: awesome vibe and incredible set pieces.

I think they made the guns too strong and then made every chapter have a few really annoying combat encounters to compensate. Way too many fights in close spaces (I wish this game had the RE4 quick turnaround) and way too many cases where a monster with a command grab silently spawns behind you and fucks you up before you even realize he's there. Also, not sure if this is just a Steam Deck problem or what but the little dog guys with the ranged spike attack were impossible to see without the flashlight pointing right at them on a lot of maps.

Playing RE4, then DS1 then DS2 really shows how much work they put into every fight in RE4 (and a lot of DS1). Guys spawn behind you, but the game always either shows/tells you, and gives you lots of room to maneuver so it always feels like you can fight through it. In DS2 you would trigger a scripted encounter, kick rear end with your infinite ammo 2hko body shot gun for a bit, die to some unseeable enemy half way through (I hate the mine enemies they added lol) and then respawn and be able to get a bit further into the scripted encounter until the next unseeable instakill spawned etc. etc.

Probably going to jump into Metroid Fusion or Pikmin next. Might wait to see if I can find a buddy to do DS3 coop with.

Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts - way harder than the Genesis game and you can't exactly call it "tough but fair" since the Super Pretendo slowdown is always screwing up your timing and audio cues from enemies don't always play. It's still good but the Genesis version plays smoother and sounds better while being more fun overall.

doom 64 - normal + lost levels on 'i own doom' difficulty - extremely sick....level design was great overall, only complaints were the overreliance on switches and teleporters. glad the john romero rear end puzzles were reserved for secrets. I think i missed one of the demon keys but I don't think it affected anything too much
