I think SH2 remake looks like poo poo because not a single moment of that trailer managed to convey any sense of tension, discomfort, or fear in me whatsoever. It looks nice on a technical level I guess? At parts? But I’m somehow getting zero Silent Hill 2 vibes from what should be a spot on remake of Silent Hill 2.

I’m optimistic. The trailer looked surprisingly good. Bloober has a bad reputation but, maybe it’ll be like when Nintendo managed to get Silicon Knights to make a couple of good games before they went independent and fell apart.

So is Requiem using a good portion of the PS5's capabilities? It's pretty much more of the same from the last game which is pretty much exactly what I wanted but there are some rough framerate drops.

Ok I’m liking Requiem a lot but in fight scenes with a lot of rats, when you have to do the mix of stealth combat action stuff.. the frame pacing and chugga chugga of the engine feels so bad it’s hard not to get disoriented. It’s funny because when it’s raining and they drop the draw distance way down via fog.. the game runs very well. They just need to optimize and cut it out with some of the LOD they’re piping through or use more of that cool “draw only stuff in the player’s fov don’t be like star citizen” technology and it would probably be a much better experience. It feels awful at times, really good at other times.

I finished Requiem and I'm not sure what to think about that last third. FULL ENDING SPOILERS: It was such a massive downer. All that poo poo just so to watch a kid get traumatized into being a bomb and leaving you with no option but to kill your brother after the entire rest of your family has died is... ugh. Doesn't feel great. Also, these guys really like the Akira manga. When I saw the resonating orb Hugo turned into I was torn between thinking it was a neat visual homage, but also kind of a weird genre shift. When I realized they were doing the same "entering a space where the rules of reality dissipate, you see into the child superbombs mind, then say farewell to save what's left of civilization" ending... well okay. They really went all the way. Thinking back, there are an awful lot of parallels. A secret group of researchers unlocked a new power in kids, it went out of control so they sealed the kid deep underground. Later the same power appears in a new kid. The research group tries to control him at first, then decided they need to eliminate him again. The new kid is psychically drawn to the original who is sealed underground. In the end, warring factions trigger the new kid into going nuclear, so you enter his world ending glowy sphere to end him. Replace future Tokyo with medieval France and psychokinesis with rats. It was visually spectacular at least. If they make a third game where you go after The Order to try to end the existence of macula, I'll play. If it's just enduring more misery with the next host... eh, I've had enough.

i am fuckin shook at the amount of SH hate in this thread i had no idea anything silent hill was being announced today but saw the SH2 trailer when i fired up youtube after work i nearly loving cried. SH2 is in the shortlist for best video game of all time and i dont even give a poo poo if its a hackjob remake (it wont be), getting to replay it at all is going to be so amazing and im so happy and gently caress any SH hater or denier

I watched a friend play through Silent Hill 1 back at release. It was fun to watch and a genuinely creepy and neat game for the time, although not the type I personally enjoy playing. I don’t have more to say about the series other than I hope fans get a good entry.

I'm really liking the art design of Silent Hill F. It doesn't look much like any of the previous games, but that's probably a good thing. Does anyone know anything about Ryukishi07? Seems like he has a lot of fans. The remake looks bland, Townfall looks like a rehash of previous themes, and the multiplayer game is just a dumb fit for the franchise. The movie will probably be visually impressive but corny, like all of the director's films. I will say the Silent Hill f thing looks neat and promising with the whole east asian pretty fungus vibes hat lady and also it hits my weak spot of grossness which is skin made of lotustit.jpg The part where her face falls off is absolutely disgusting so  for making me barf at breakfast time

If you don't trust Konami to respectfully exhume the corpse of a beloved series that, judging from a string of bad-to-mediocre farmed-out sequels, it was failing to steward even before it loudly and messily abandoned AAA game development, an episode that included the abrupt cancelling of a Silent Hill project that was more exciting than everything announced today combined, you're a hater.
