Not just back then, I was taught to do it in High School photography class back in the 90s. Not as high quality though, and we used special markers for the color. When it works it looks pretty neat.

There's probably a filter for it these days, or some specialist in a garage doing it to film you mail in.

Laughed really hard at the Priest's internal monologue about "toxic vape gas", such a good touch and joke to show what a square he is. :haw:

Good lord The Creeps is so good. The comedic timing is divine and the humor is so delightfully gross without actually being too much.

There's something in my eyes. It's tears.

Nice twist that the guy we're introduced to as the abusive drunk that beats his young son isn't just a walking hate sink for the audience. And god drat, what is the pay off of this strip gonna be considering how much set-up and fate linking we've had between Plank and Copper?

Love the art too. So distinct and striking. Great comic!

Oh yeah, on my dad's side of the family he's got a bunch of siblings, and his parents started parceling out a bunch of heirlooms years ago trying to squash that kind of petty feuding. That said, my grandmother told my parents last year that she'd had a home monitoring system installed, and to keep that a secret from the siblings who she knew had started pilfering stuff that she still had in storage whenever they came over to visit or do chores for her. Mind you, none of these people have financial issues, nobody is pawning off Antiques Roadshow finds, it seemingly just boils down to "This should belong to me, not you" stuff.

There's an AI for video colorization now. As with a lot of things, many more people use it than are good at using it. It definitely ruins the effect of AI video upscaling.

And speaking of worst case scenarios, 9CL (which I'm still reading, but not posting) went all squicky on us again. For the full effect, start reading at October 10th. Then when you catch up to today, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7IP5SV6GqQ. Have a bucket ready when you lunch comes back up to say hello.

Rex Morgan, MD has not appeared in Rex Morgan, MD in a month and a half. He was last seen in the 9/11 Sunday strip (:911:) in a wordless cameo. The last time he spoke on panel was two weeks before that, when they put a button on the "Married seniors have dueling cardiac episodes" series. That was also the last time this strip was about medical drama in any way.

None of this matters in the slightest; newspapers are dead, funnies are dead, this forum is dead. But your author is clearly done with the premise of "a small-town doctor interacts with patients," just acknowledge this and say "Alright this strip is now called 'Glenwood, USA' and it's just going to be a pleasant, low-key, toothless slice-of-life domestic dramedy going forward."

One thing I've learned doing a podcast about The Andy Griffith Show for the past five years is that the fans of this show do not give a gently caress about Andy himself, character or actor. They do not refer to the show as its title, it is always just "Mayberry". Andy was just a catalyst, he is their transport vessel to the magical land of Mayberry where the kids respect their elders, everyone goes to church every Sunday, and no one has any real problems (also there are no black people)

This Rex Morgan makes me think of that. Rex himself doesn't matter, he is just an excuse for the old-person readers to see old-people doing old-person things... like occasionally visiting the doctor, but not that often.

(Breaking Mayberry is available wherever you get podcasts)
