The art is cool but I hate the way a lot of this stuff is getting pitched to the public. I can guarantee that "human evolution" was not the prompt used for these images, this isn't a video of "how AI thinks humans will evolve", it's a human artist mashing words that they feel represent incrementally-evolved concepts into a prompt then sticking each iteration in a video. The idea of it being "terrifying" is a joke unless you also find things like h.r. giger art to be "terrifying" It's the same kind of misrepresentation that lead to that Google dork saying AI is sentient and getting fired: He literally asked an AI over and over if it was sentient and trained it to say yes, then was shocked when it said "Yes, I'm sentient." It was repeating his human words to him. There's no "secret deep intelligence" behind AI, it's an equation that turns words into images. Everything it does is borrowed from human thought and human art which it studied and is regurgitating. This is a human's interpretation of the evolution of humanity, it was just drawn by a computer. It's still cool art but the way that tweet pitches it is just wrong and sensationalist. deep dish peat moss has a new favorite as of 17:34 on Oct 19, 2022 |

What a faker.

Rather than saying "I made the bot", I should have said that the former Google and Meta AI engineers at https://character.ai/ made the bot and I simply asked it to behave in a certain way. Chatbots have come a long way since the days of the Cleverbot. Many people often feel awe how pretty the Midjourney and Stable Diffusion pictures look, but, at least for me, the real innovation is how they can take instructions in natural language and transform them into something else while keeping the original meaning intact. ^ BoldFace has a new favorite as of 23:57 on Oct 19, 2022 |

This thing is eerily good. Seems to properly learn behavior from just a simple description too! (I didn't do anything except write the top line as guidance) edit: you can pit AIs against each other. The Automatic1111 build has CLIP interrogator built in, though it seems to give slightly higher-level descriptions. Haven't tested it with dogs though.

Midjourney generates the same girl over and over, especially when you ask it to paint itself or what it would look like as a human. This dragon is that network's fursona, obviously. Megazver has a new favorite as of 15:05 on Oct 30, 2022 |
