Since we both function just fine, neither of us are in the OP’s position, which is like, an extreme fight-or-flight-or-freeze response to public speaking. You can’t really think your way around that response the way that you’re describing.

Thanks for assuming, but I have severe, severe generalized anxiety disorder and the first half a dozen times I needed to speak to hundreds of people on a daily basis had my knees clacking and my hands shaking, full flop sweat

You literally can think your way around it (thats what CBT is meant for) and it has everything to do with re-framing what you're doing and why

My post wasn't intended to be haughty bullshit, it's genuine experience

You are the speaker, you are likely being paid or at the very least, appreciated by the organizer, for what you are saying or you wouldn't be there

Whatever it is you are talking about to a large group, own it and move past every negative thought that pops in your head about how the audience may or may not percieve you

Stage fright hits everyone in different ways but at the end of the day, when you stop caring about the people sitting in the seats and realize it's just about you expressing something you care about, who gives a gently caress about Steven in aisle three, seat ten, who had way too many glasses of red wine before curtain

He's gonna remember puking on his wife at intermission well before he remembers your lines

In short, in a very stupid roundabout way, this is what "imagine everyone in the audience is naked" is all about

You have clothes, they don't

You're on stage, they aren't

You win, they lose

Nail that PowerPoint right into their tiny heads and never look back, you got this

Well, if the original question is interpreted "what is a solution that is guaranteed to work for every single person" then there is no answer, because people are different. People are responding with what works for them; nowhere have I seen anyone saying "here is the universal solution". Most reasonable readers understand this inherent limitation; the less acute and the excessively pedantic need this point spelled out for them.

The approach that works best (FOR ME, mind) is two fold: first, knowing my subject backwards and forwards. I want to know not just the things I'm talking about but all the periphery issues around the main topic. Two, a genuine enthusiasm for the subject. Even if it's ostensibly boring, there is something to find that makes it interesting.

A knowledge of and passion for the subject makes any such talks go very smoothly (SPECIFICALLY IN MY CASE. YOUR RESULTS MAY VARY)

Re: Public Speaking

If you’re meeting with and speaking to a small cohort (not just speaking with, if that distinction makes sense), it may help to actually have the meeting/discussion/talk in the space where you’re expected to give the big talk.

I’ve seen people who had their presentation down pat freeze up because giving it in an audience hall was so different than giving it in their living room or while seated amongst coworkers. The more aspects of the talk you can get comfortable with, the less your anxiety will have to grab onto.

Practice, practice, practice, and as other posters have said: you’re the one with the power, ultimately nobody’s going to remember any foibles, and it gets easier over time.

When I have to speak to crews (from 10-100 guys) every morning in the safety meetings, I always just kind of run through it in my head over and over on the drive in. I hate doing it, but it's part of my job. Our safety meetings are very informal and usually take place in the loading dock or on stage, and it still gets my anxiety through the roof. It helps me to remember that I'm not owing them answers, I'm giving commands, and to remind the guys that throughout the day at any point we could have to pivot to meet a specific goal as we come across new information.

I'm old and have a bunch of band/show/event T-shirts circa 1989 - 1997 that are clean but way too rotted (frayed collars, some holes) to actually wear. I'd like to see them made into a "quilt" -- doesn't have to be a functional blanket per se, could just be a wall hanging, though a quilt would be awesome.

Can anyone here tell me, or is there a sewing thread here, where I could get an estimate on what I should be willing to pay? I'm happy to do an SA-mart post, but don't want to look like an rear end in a top hat and low-ball the pay offer. I'm an artist myself and believe in fair pay for hard work.

(Also thank heavens for SA, bc I can't just ask on FB Marketplace or the like, "hey, can you make a quilt out of my, eg., "Haus der Luge" and "Scraping Foetus Off the Wheel" shirts?)

My wife did this a few years ago using some company she found on the internet. You pick a size and that will tell you roughly how many shirts would be needed for that size. Send the shirts to them and a few weeks later you get a quilt back. Price also depends on size, but it was probably between $50-100.

Does anybody have experience using their Amazon Prime subscription to get the free twitch subscription?

I wear a pair of Ugg boots every winter as slippers, it’s what they were made for in Australia and they are warm and comfy so if that makes me basic I don’t care.

I know this is a hosed up question, but I'm going to preface it with that it was an absolute accident, and I did NOT know that was what would happen.

But how do you check if a cat is ok if it got a full on body slam from a 120-140lb trans woman? Like if you just absolutely UNINTENTIONALLY wrecked a 12lb cats poo poo. Like if you just bodied the gently caress out of it thinking your bed was empty.

e: It's walking around normal, and is acting normal, but should I still take it to the vet? Like emergency vet?

99% certain your cat is fine.
Monitor the cat’s behavior. If there’s no changes in where they nap, if they eat, drink, piss and poop just the same: 100% fine.
If there is a change, it’s very likely your cat is just spooked. But calling your vet can’t harm in that case.
You really don’t need to rush to the emergency vet.

I will say that cats are far more resilient than most people think they are as well. The falls they can survive with minor fractures or sprains vs other animals getting seriously injured, and the give of a bed with how their bodies are structured they should be fine. Also the floof helps.

Just dont flop onto them on like a hardwood floor or something

I've just dug out a stack of old magazines from the basement storage of my apartment complex, to discover that the pages are a little bit damp and stuck together. Well, actually, they're not so much damp as seem like they've been wet and then dried.

Is there any way I can separate the pages without tearing them? :(

e: and/or, does anyone know where I can get digital copies of "Take Off" magazine by "aerospace publishing ltd", published in the early 90s? All I've been able to find are Amazon listings of physical copies.

I've got around 20-30 issues, which I collected as a kid. I've been really getting into DCS lately, and I thought I'd dig up my childhood airplane magazines out of storage. Kind of shattered that they're damaged - I've already torn the cover of one of them :(

I could swear I read something ~20 years ago about how the japanese government sits down with tech giants each year, and coordinates R/D and production output. There might be a special name for this kind of arrangement? Anyway Google only gave me a hit from 2009, but I swear it was way earlier than that. Maybe they did it in the 90s?

Once per turn, you can Tribute 1 WATER monster you control (except this card) to Special Summon 1 WATER monster from your hand. The monster Special Summoned by this effect is destroyed if "Raging Eria" is removed from your side of the field.
Yeah, gently snuggle or pet the cat, if they hiss and snap in a way they normally don't that's a bad sign.

Another way cats display pain is if they sleep hunched up instead of stretching out on their sides. With their elbows underneath them and a little humped back. That's what we had to look for and noticed after our cat got an infection that didn't clear up right away.

Whoever notices the mistake will alert the supervisor/pit boss, play will be suspended for a moment, they'll sort it out. Casinos have incredibly good surveillance, if they need to play footage back they can. If they can't decide the proper outcome, probably just do a push.

It's there anything that actually does, in reality, have a "self destruct" feature? It's such a staple of fiction for a facility/spacecraft/ship/whatever to have a button that sets a timer until the thing violently explodes, and that seems like an odd feature to have.

...having just asked that, I know rockets usually do have a self destruct so that they can be blown up remotely if they go dangerously off course and are going to crash into people. But I don't know if that's something they put on rockets that are carrying people, and there's no end of "explicitly blow up your vehicle and yourself if you're still in it" buttons in fiction
