Actually come to think of it I strongly dislike Bam, but I only came to know of him after he made the transition from making money skating to making money being a piece of poo poo.

As someone who moved from rollerblading in the 90s to skateboarding in the 00s, then back to rollerblading a few years ago, this collab between WKND Skateboards and Them Skates makes me weirdly proud:

Absolutely wonderful video. Both companies knew they had a tightrope to walk with the years of bad blood and I think they smashed it. Full of incredibly legit cameos and references. God knows how they got everyone together.

My friends and I were talking about roller blading at the skatepark the other night. Everyone seemed to think roller blading was mostly fine, which is a huge change from even 10 years ago when roller blading was not cool. The biggest change I notice is BMX, I feel like the skateboard BMX beef is completely squashed. I notice BMX guys use plastic pegs to not chunk things up, at some parks I notice they show up as crews either early in the morning or late at night.

I've noticed rollerblading has picked up since covid, and those roller-rink skaters have been coming to skateparks too, they do like handstands in the middle of the bowl. I can't stand the roller-rink skating people.

I know it isn't popular, but I really like watching people scooter at the skatepark. There is this crew of scooter kids at my local that have this 90's anime/DDR style with baggy pants, painted nails, chain necklaces, and gloves, and they do like backflips and crazy things, and then hit vape pens non-stop. For some reason that feels like such a cool thing to me idk.

bladers are mostly OK, there's an older crew that rips our local DIY and they are chill.
Had some other bladers try to get in a fight about my friend asking them not to wax metal ledge/coping at another skatepark.
Bike folks are usually OK but I hate skating around bikes. they are too fast and and often too quiet so you can't hear or predict where they are coming from or where they are going too. I don't want to run into a bike please, they have lots of metal points.
I feel like the rise of the kids on scooters has made allies of bladers and skaters.
I don't really like watching bike moves because they always look a little goofy holding on to their handle bars so tightly with their hands close together, it just looks...not stylish.
Scooters do this x100 with even worse looking style.

Watching my 6yo daughter whip around on a scooter makes me think of the Christmas I got a scooter as a young teen and absolutely ripped it for spring/summer. I was the odd one in our friends group back then, switching between rollerblade/scooter/bmx while my friends just boarded the whole time. Wish I could get a fat man scooter or lose some weight and get a less fat man scooter.

Daughter is also interested in skateboarding, using an old beatup board I inherited from a friend moving out of town. Excited for a local nonprofit/youth support group to open up their new (and our area's only) indoor skatepark just a short half mile from our house, they do all sorts of meetups and learn to skate lessons; I think my little girl will love to be a part of the crew.

Dammit go to the hospital, hands and wrists are full of tiny little bones that don't heal right.

Does Anderson have a background in ice skating? The way he does such smooth and tight spins and keeps his core over his feet so much reminds me of figure skating.

I really like the skating and the music. I don't really care about the way they edited it. Videos like this always pump me up because most of the skating is within my abilities so i see some cool things I haven't thought about and it makes me want to go try them out.

After not skating since I was 14 I've decided 20 years later to pick it back up again. Built up this bad boy this morning and looking forward to taking it out!

I was never good when I was young, I could barely ollie but could skate around just fine. The main thing I really want to get good at is skating mini ramps, it just looks super chill when you get the hang of it. Luckily there are a few near me so I'll have some to practice on!

Wrist guards are also on their way, not taking any chances nowadays.

Get a helmet too. Concussions are bad, plus you can put stickers on it.

Yup already got a helmet and knee pads too! Wrist guards are just the addition. The board feels really nice and I'm glad I invested in decent trucks and 56mm wheels.

When it gets warm enough to skateboard again in 4-5 months, I think I might get some pads. It took me over a half a century, but I guess finally got oldsmart.

gay for gacha
Dec 22, 2006

I fell on my broken wrist today, felt like a huge idiot pretty much. I have a wrist guard, i've been wearing it all week to skate, I just forgot it today and didn't want to go home and lose sunlight.

I think pads are cool, I think people can/should skate in anyway that is fun and makes them skate more. The only thing I like about Andy Anderson is that he wears that helmet and it makes others feel like they can wear a helmet and come to the skatepark. Personally, I wear knee pads and a helmet if I'm skating big or fast (to me) transition, never anything else. Sometimes I feel like pads give me this false sense of security or willingness to try things that I normally wouldn't and then because I don't skate in pads, I could get way more hosed up. Two years ago I was skating a six foot half pipe with a plywood 3 foot "vert" extension on one side. I wanted to blunt to fakie the extension so I put on a helmet for the courage and got knocked out cold, concussed, speaking in tongues. Without a helmet I just won't skate outside of my abilities. I wear wrist pads when I injure my wrists and I've notice that when you fall, if you post your arm out with the wrist pad the plastic protector bit can slide and if your face can hit the ground.
