evangelion had tons of insanely good animation throughout, though certainly a lot more was earlier on. The thing I like about Neon is it delves (a little) into the logistics of having a giant murderbot. The whole city is designed around supporting it. The other typical anime bs in it is bad. It's the same reason Shin Godzilla is great, which I highly recommend. I don't give two fucks about godzilla, but I thought that movie was great. I'd be curious to know how expensive this kind of thing was to make in it's time, inflation adjusted. Was that about 2 months wages for the type of person who would be in a position to have that desk? Look at the feet on it, it's such a strange item. It almost seems like it's more for a bizarre curator type person and less a person holding public office or somesuch.

I think that is the sort of thing that you get if you're a member of the nobility and so "wages" are an alien concept to you. Baroque stuff like that is from the era when louis the fourteenth had a full time personal cabinetmaker, it's the height of monarchist excess. Except I guess for rococo which is like baroque but if you made literally everything out of moulding and covered it in gold, the end result looking basically like the spray foam craze except excruciatingly done by hand.
