Yeah that’s not him. I had his info at some point, but I don’t care to dig in too much again.

Police showed up at his house and he had CSAM open on his computer when they arrived.

Yeah. The description of the images in the probable cause affidavit was really bad. There’s some bad poo poo out there for sure.

e: went back through some old PMs on the topic. Iit was bad enough and they had him dead to rights so he pleaded guilty to 10 counts of possession of CSAM and was sentenced to 10 years I think. He was caught because he uploaded one of the images to imgur who then reported his IP and email address to the police closest to his IP.

Is the A in CSAM assault? I can figure out the CS and I assume the M is material, but I don't want to google the term for obvious reasons.

Close, I believe it's "abuse". I usually see it used as "CSA Survivor".

Thanks for the explanations Mr. Nice.

I would like to add that the principles behind those kinds of laws, and policies of police having to release names of people they arrest are supposed to make it harder for the state to use the police to dissappear people. I think the idea is they should be required to make public who they have captive, and the reason why.

it is to hold the accused out to public ridicule and reputational harm in anticipation of trial, op.

it’s the reason it’s done predominantly in Shithole States like florida

Don't you just hate when you wind up in a store with people who are in a socioeconomic class that is pretty obviously about two levels lower than your own?
I feel like you’re giving the Florida legislature a lot of credit here

did they carefully and methodically craft a system to gently caress people over?

or did they happen to create a system to gently caress people over, and upon seeing this double down as hard as they could?

nowadays though they would do the latter by adopting model legislation from people working very hard at the former, mainly because the people funding it all realized how easy and cheap it would actually be
