I generally use Injustice Watch and Girl, I Guess to figure out who has cop endorsements and vote no on them right off the bat, then skim for good people to vote yes on. Anyone in the middle gets a no just to make them sweat when the final numbers come out.

This is what I just did. If there is any question, just vote no. It's still incredibly rare for a judge to not be retained (I think only one in the last 30 years).

Also depending on the rest of the judges rulings. I would definitely vote yes on judges that give light sentences to people generally, so that's not a great motivator for me.

Our criminal justice system doesn't actually get anyone any sort of actual help they need.

So it seems like early voting is down in Chicago and that is leading to some buzz about how voting turn out might be down.

I wonder if vote by mail is dropping that or if it is really less enthusiasm.

Capitol Fax has it midway through this campaign update.

* By comparison, Chicago’s vote totals are abysmal…

The most up-to-date Early Vote and Vote By Mail totals in Chicago, night of Wednesday, October 26, 2022.

The Early Vote total stands at 25,829 ballots cast.

Additionally, 44,142 Vote By Mail ballots have been returned to the Board – total VBM applications stands at 196,958.

The grand total is 69,971 ballots cast so far in Chicago for the November 8th General Election.

And then on election day, most Chicago voters are gonna have to deal with the fact that the board just recently moved their polling places.

Doesn't look like turnout's down, DuPage turnout is higher than 2018 by quite a bit. Total votes in so far:

https://twitter.com/ILElectionData/status/1585712625547345923
half a million already voted statewide, that's not terrible. I think only 4 million or so voted in 2018, less than half that came from Cook Co.

Downstate shithead Mike Bost filed a federal lawsuit attempting to get any ballots received after November 8th thrown out.

https://www.chicagotribune.com/politics/elections/ct-mailed-ballots-lawsuit-20221028-zvojvgcqmrc2disat3se2soc4i-story.html

A pending federal lawsuit, brought by a downstate Republican congressman and two GOP officials, could invalidate potentially tens of thousands of mailed general election ballots that are cast by Illinois voters, including military members serving overseas, and postmarked on or before this coming Election Day but received by election authorities afterward.

The lawsuit, led by four-term U.S. Rep. Mike Bost of Murphysboro echoes some of the rejected court challenges filed by former President Donald Trump in other states in the lead-up to the 2020 presidential election that he falsely contends was stolen. Bost is being assisted in the suit by a nonprofit conservative advocacy organization that has backed a number of Trump’s efforts.

At issue is a 2015 state law that allows vote-by-mail ballots to be counted if they are received within 14 days after Election Day if they were postmarked on or before the final day of voting. If the ballots lack a postmark or if it is illegible, ballots can be counted if the voter dated and signed the ballot on or before Election Day.

How much do early voting locations matter in the suburbs? In Chicago, you can vote at any location you want. If figured the burbs were similar as long as you stayed in the same county, but I don’t really know.

I'm not honestly sure, but the fact that it wasn't the early voting location in my town that's closer than the one they gave me an address for was suspicious when I thought about it. I've also been getting ilgop texts a couple times per week for the past two months.

Looks like it was a progressive firm screwing up.

quote:

A political text message firm said on Monday it mistakenly sent incorrect voting information to residents in five states.

Movement Labs, which supports progressive organizations, said it takes “full responsibility” after sending the incorrect texts on behalf of Voto Latino, Black Voters Matter and Voting Futures to people in Illinois, Kansas, New Jersey, North Carolina and Virginia.

“In some of our texts, we sent addresses and images of drop-box locations when we intended only to include in-person early vote locations,” Movement Labs said in a statement. “We didn’t specify in our text that we were trying to encourage voters to vote early. Some voters familiar with their election day location thought we were telling them to vote on election day at an early vote location.”

New Jersey and Kansas’s secretaries of state had warned about the text messages earlier on Monday, characterizing them as misinformation.

“Text messages containing election misinformation are being sent to some NJ voters,” tweeted New Jersey Secretary of State Tahesha Way (D). “Election officials are the best source for election info. Voters should visit vote.nj.gov to verify voter registration and polling location before voting in the 2022 election.”

Kansas Secretary of State Scott Schwab (R) indicated the messages often directed a voter to an incorrect polling location within their country.

“Voters should be on high alert for these messages,” said Schwab. “The Secretary of State’s office does not use third parties to contact voters or share election information on our behalf. State and local election officials are the trusted sources for election information, and I encourage voters to contact our office or their county election office for assistance.”

Movement Labs said it reached out to each voter that received a message from the firm echoing the sentiments of the two secretaries of state.

“This program relies on difficult-to-compile polling location data from multiple sources matched to individuals on the voter file, and we fell short of our rigorous standards with these errors,” the company said.

The progressive firm earlier this month sent texts to Oregon voters with inaccurate information, KGW8 reported.

Though now that they've done this TWICE, maybe they want to like, stop helping because they aren't very good at it.
