I feel like I am vastly undervaluing the powerstone tokens but they seem not great even in draft, definitely not for constructed at all.

They seem more powerful but less flexible than food, blood, and clues to me.

A card that read

Powerstone - {1}
Artifact
~ ETBs tapped
{T}: Add {C}. This mana can’t be spent to cast a nonartifact spell.

would probably be very good.

The cards that make them so far don't, though. I like the land and maybe Splitting the Powerstone.

I think the double negative just trips people up. there's a lot of abilities you can use powerstones to pay for, but people tunnel on only using it to cast artifacts

We have decided to decline your offer of a butt kicking.
We've also seen commons with an activated ability that costs 7 generic. The powerstone generation will play nicely with both getting you to 7. Plus all the artifact synergies.

idk if you're paying seven mana for a wrath (nine if you want to tutor as well) it doesn't seem unreasonable to get it as a surprise

It's 9 mana. The only "gotta have" card in EDH that's 9 mana is loving Expropriate.

I think it's one of the reprints that are this set's equivalent to strixhaven's mystical archive, meaning you could get them in limited but they keep their original legalities (except for arena, which gets them added to historic unless prebanned)

(Speaking about limited here) Between expensive activated abilities, Unearth, and Prototype, there seems to be a lot of mana sinks in the set attached to acceptable early-to-midgame bodies. There's no way to know the speed of the format until we get the commons dump, but based on what's been shown so far I'd guess that they're going for Rise of the Eldrazi levels of glacial.

I guess it's because Karn's Sylex enters tapped. Thinking about it, the difference may be less the mana cost - Karn's costs a close to the same amount to wipe the board, especially with Sheoldred running around everywhere - and more the fact that Urza's Sylex is functionally a white card?

Just gotta get your Sol Ring, Mana Vault and Mana Crypt out. Then all you need to do is wait for your opponent(s) to have 3 creatures.

Ugh this thing is going to be very annoying to play against in standard and pioneer. Maybe modern too.

Though not a lot of control decks want to sac a bunch of lands.

It's basically just a big fog. Your opponent's can still wipe your board. It's not that big a deal.

A fog you can grab with Karn that also stops anything going face.

Context, bro. Karn doesn't work in EDH, the only format where TefPro sees play.
