For people who use the magnets-and-baking sheets method of storing minis... how do you actually store the baking sheets when they have minis on them? Everything I can think to google for baking sheet storage just gives me vertical storage for baking sheets and they don't look sturdy enough to take the weight of a baking sheet and minis (or the sheets would be slanted and likely to slide out).

Edit: Apparently I was just googling the wrong thing. "Cooling racks" look like the term that I should have been looking for.

A better way to prevent your minis getting dusty is to stick metal sheets to the inside of -plastic boxes. In the UK you have Really Useful Boxes for these which are very handy.

I wasn't too worried about dust, more just a convenient way to store the minis. Also, I completely forgot Plano boxes existed when I posted that. Ah well, I guess I'll just have to use the cheap baking sheets for baking or something crazy like that.

Also, we picked up Direchasm, Harrowdeep (more boards and dice along with the two armies), and the Champions of Dreadfang, Khagra's Ravagers and Exiled Dead armies when we picked up Gnarlwood. My wife really likes the look of the Lady Harrow's Mournflight warband, but I don't know if the Mournflight and Ravagers decks count as Rivals decks or not. Do we need to use the universal decks for them, or are their decks still "Rivals compatible" despite not saying so?

Both Ravagers and Mournflight are rivals compatible. I think that the only ones that aren't are the original Shadespire warbands, but an extra card pack might be needed for the Nightvault warbands. I haven't looked at Underworlds in a long time now, so I'm not completely sure about Nightvault.

How long are the Underworlds releases generally available for these days? I love the look of the skeletons in Gnarlwood and I think the humans are OK, but I don't really want to drop 50 quid on another GW box right now. Will I still be able to get them in early 2023?

The Gnarlwood box should be available as a starter set until the next starter is released in April / May, at which time (if the pattern so far is followed) the skeletons will then be released in a box together with the Gnarlspirit Pack, which should be available for a year or so after that. (GW loss-leading starter set pricing being what it is, the set with just the warbands won't be appreciably cheaper than the starter set, so there's no need to wait til April/May.)

The Churn in Underworlds is so punishing. I love the game, I just can't keep up.

I've sold all my universal cards from Shadespire > Direchasm and I'm trying to switch to Rivals, but finding some of the Rivals Decks already seems to be impossible.

The Rivals decks that you can't buy are also no longer Rivals/Nemesis format-legal. They cut out all the White Dwarf Rivals decks and Silent Menace. It's just the one Harrowdeep, one Nethermaze, and two Gnarlwood Rivals decks now.

And I thank them for that. Most of the people that used to play locally (before COVID) are getting back into the game with Gnarlwood.

Yes, just like with Warmachine Mk IV, I’m in favor of reducing the design space to make a tighter, better game, even if it means I can’t use some of the stuff I own. I organize the Underworlds meetup at my local store and we’re seeing a revitalization in interest now as well.

Signs point to GW making "not having to keep up with the churn" a major design goal with Gnarlwood and the push for legitimacy of Rivals / Nemesis play. In theory, if you're playing Rivals / Nemesis you can literally just get a warband you like and a universals Rivals deck you like (and you don't need the latter if you only want to do Rivals) and be done collecting and still play on a more or less level field with everyone else. It does suck in some sense that pre-Gnarlwood universal Rivals decks appear to be generally not as good as the new ones, but OTOH that means that new players won't need to feel like they have to hunt them down.

That all makes sense and makes me hopeful. I feel like Rivals is a bit of a sad way to make the older bands be playable as the decks surely can only eliminate much of their play styles and unique character. And you still need the fighter cards (which I mostly have at least.)

One Day I Will Return To Your Side.
Hey guys I have a question regarding the Kill team roster:-

I noticed that the game allows you to equip side items like specific grenades, mines, shovels, etc. each with an equipment point value (with the total equipment allowed being 10), I built the data cards for my team but I want a good flexible way of assigning equipment differently per game, I cant really see a token specifying this in the starter box, and I dont want to print a checklist for every time we play a game.

I'm thinking of making my own custom tokens that would allow each faction to have a physical thing they can put on their unit card so we can keep track of who is equipped with what. the front of the token is what equipment it is (Krak Grenade, Rosary, Shovel, etc.) and the back of the token is the point value of the item, that way it would be much easier for players to quickly choose and count up their item values to 10 and assign equipment to anyone they want in the team.

would that work? I'll give it a try and see.

That's certainly one of the appeals of Nemesis, yeah, since you can use what cards you can salvage from the warband's faction deck as well, and also cover for cards in the Rivals deck that will be hard or impossible for the warband to use.

Roster is for base models only (narrative might be different, I’m talking open and match play only) because equipment buying and assigning happens during the set up of each game individually. A lot of people use tokens next to the model or sitting on the card to represent them. Personally, I use a token next to the model for grenades, and just write down the rest on a scrap of paper.

A single unit of Reavers left to paint, varnishing, and basing left to do and I'll finally have a 1,000 point army of High Elves ready to go for Warmaster. Thing is, I'm still not sure how I want to paint up the shields and banners, whether I want to go with actual designs, runes, or some combination thereof. I'll figure that out at some point, though.

So actually, the general and all of the spearmen are Forest Dragon 3d prints. These are a couple of slightly older pics of them, but it gets the paint scheme across quite nicely.

I did go back through and change a few colors around, using Incubi Darkness instead of Snakebite Leather for the boots, to give it a darker, but not quite black look. I also went through and hit all the metals with Vallejo Glossy Black, then relayered the metals over it in order to make them pop a bit better, since that's the focal point of the army.

Tbh, it was a quick couple of pics taken this morning before heading out for work, so once I get home I'll try and take some better ones, show off the gems a little better (since I've been using automotive paint flakes for them).

Full Blood bowl teams come with two sprues of 6 players each; Blitz Bowl has 1 Sprue of Human and Skaven players. So technically it gets you halfway, BUT the only way to get half-teams is from the BlitzBowl box or ebay.

Depending on exactly what build you're going for, 1/3 to 1/2 each of a Human and Skaven team. You get 3 linemen and 1 of each of the basic positionals (Blitzer, Thrower, Catcher / Gutter Runner). At a minimum you'd need 5 more players for 11 players, and normally people go for 12 with max blitzers (4 for humans) so you'd need at least another sprue, plus you'd probably want the big guy too.

With Skaven you really want 4 gutter runners, and that blitz bowl box will only have 1.

Though the majority of Skaven players don't bother with a Rat Ogre, so there's that.

Got my Kill Team starter box! so hyped to start building and playing!

By the time I explore the game and see if I like it they should announce Soulshackle so by then I'll have figured out where to expand from there.

the question is now how to build my Krieg Veteran squad, what weapons are best, etc. any tips or advice?

is the grenade launcher good? does it ignore cover?

You build all the special weapons, sniper, meedic, comms and spotter. Sergant gets power weapon and plasma pistol. You want to field 10 speicialists+ 4 normal dudes.

Grenades from launcher do not ignore cover but you will pop kraks 80% of the time anyway

Not really. They're also pretty different games - Blitz Bowl isn't "scaled down BB," it's BB adjacent and uses card-based objectives for most of your scoring. Blitz Bowl is more suited for someone who wants the BB flavor, but only wants to commit about 30 minutes or so to a game; or the person who already owns BB and some teams and would like something a bit different and/or wants to play a game with people who won't commit to the often infuriating whims of Nuffle's dice.

EDIT: I appreciate that GW is doing these entry level mass market games, but holy poo poo, $50 is a big ask for the WHQ game.

First impressions of kill team starter set box:-

1) lol I got a misprint and got 2 ork transfer sheets and no imperial Krieg sheets, that sucks I wonder if I can request a free one from GW.

2) the overall quality of everything in the box is really really loving awesome, the models look utterly brilliant, the Krieg are smaller than I expected so I might need to figure out if I can do my designs on them effectively.

3) the presentation of everything is A plus, I’m surprised by how giddy I am opening and reading everything, genuinely excited to start playing this once I’ve assembled everything.

Overall the starter set is a really good value, the only thing I can knock against it is the lack of the tac ops cards those are pretty essential and having to buy them seperately was not great. Also the dice feel slightly cheap but once I’ve figured if I enjoy the game I’ll get a more premium dice stuff.

If the game turns out to be fun to play I will absolutely get a gallowdark thing really soon.
