:raise: Someone please correct me if I'm misremembering, but aren't the Misty Isles such a hermit kingdom that they ruthlessly murder any stranger who accidentally turns up on their shores?

When Val first landed there (Feb. 02, 1941), Aleta gave him a letter claiming "no stranger may land on these shores and live." Later he watched his crew get killed by the islanders, but he was unaware that this was because they had attacked the port before (Nov. 23, 1941). When he finally got back to the Isles to kidnap Aleta (Nov. 19, 1944), we got some narration telling us that centuries of pirate attacks led the Misty Isles to attack anyone who lands on their territory, "except only at the well-fortified seaport. There honest traders may bring their goods, but sentinels stand, night and day, year in and year out, on every headland."

I will speak for the US only: Generally, cis men are intimidated by intelligent, free-thinking women.
Look around at today's political landscape. Troglodytes are trying desperately to make it acceptable for cis women to be second- or third-class citizens again (and eliminate non-cis)

These are "fluffy" potatoes in that the surface of the diced potatoes get roughed-up during the boil and again when you mix in the other ingredients, giving the exteriors a kind of puffy texture. Still big chunks, like standard potato salad, but with some fluffed texture to the exterior. (To really amplify this effect, add a tiny amount of baking soda to the water before boiling.)

Hmmm.... IS Mark's story as bad as Cherry's story (in terms of how much the story sucks, not what Cherry means here.) Both stories start with something much more interesting, like a rampaging elephant or a mystery animal illness, and both drop that for "these two tertiary characters are/might be loving!"

I think Cherry's story is ultimately more boring, but I think Mark's is much worse because of its overreliance on a two-year-old Netflix series to explain what is bad, and also the standard "forgetting that Mark can talk to animals" deduction. But then again, in Cherry's story, Jules has forgotten their characters' relationship to one another so I don't know.

Poisoning half the army to death would leave every member of the civilian populace related to them pretty sore.
