No Snake in The Eagle's Shadow either. The Killer Meteors is actually a Jimmy Wang Yu movie, Jackie plays the villain for the first and only time in his career. Skippable imo Shaolin Wooden Men I remember being the best Lo Wei era Jackie movie. He's like a mute raised by the Shaolin monks. The titular wooden men are a hallway of wooden automatons you have to fight to leave the Temple. To Kill With Intrigue and Snake and Crane Arts are forgettable wuxia films. Top Gun: Maverick is one of the best looking 4k discs I've ever seen. I can see details in 4k that were not visible when I saw it in the theater. Also a bunch of the plane sequences including 90% of the last 45min are in 1.90:1 aspect ratio, which is fuckin sickkkk. Unfortunately the bonus features mostly suck.

I'll check out that AnyDVD thing. The way blu-ray drives work is that they give you a certain number of times you can change the disc region, after which you're locked into whatever you picked last. That's just telling VLC what region it is, I'd need to tell the drive as well. Just an all around lovely business practice that does much more harm than good. EDIT: AnyDVD costs 90 bux which is LOL but I found "Leawo Player" which does it in software for free (albeit with gaudy ads and a not-so-great UI). mutantIke fucked around with this message at 07:12 on Nov 5, 2022 |

I went to but a Criterion Collection Blu-ray from the Barnes and Noble Criterion Collection sale only to realize on my way out of the store that I had accidentally bought a 4k by mistake . I don’t even own a 4k tv. Why didn’t they make the 4k cases a different color or shape?

As for why they didn’t make a difference in cases, probably because Criterion is known for those particular clear cases and it’s part of their branding.
