Yeah classic rock stations have been playing Nirvana for a decade, but "golden oldies" formats will nevermind because that format is just straight dead. Same reason you don't hear like Sousa marches on the radio, it's just too oldies

Nah this was like 2008, 2009-ish (?) and it was multiple generals. The idea that our big wet boy would even run for president at that time was given the mockingly derisive response it deserves still to this day.

My man I heard Nickelback's "Photograph" on a station that I had known growing up as "Classic Rock 101.1" a few weeks ago and I swear I instantly aged twenty years.

IDK man, here in Germany they've tapped into a previously forgotten cache of godawful 80s music that apparently didn't make the cut in the US.

I didn't say they didn't manage to produce some worthwhile music, but half the country listened to the greatest hits of the Soviet Union for the whole of the 80s, so picking through english language pop bins for background noise is probably the wisest option.

There's this 60-something guy from Berlin who works at my company and is super into EDM. Turns out he was a club DJ in the Berlin music scene in the late 70s/early 80s when the prog-rock crowd first started experimenting with what would eventually become techno. Dude has a lot of wild stories, including some involving David Bowie and Iggy Pop during their Berlin years.
