MikeJF posted:So I know that the US barely has any labour laws and employment contract law, and the 'work from the office NOW NOW NOW' is an attempt to get lots of people to quit without severance, but constructive dismissal is a thing and promissory estoppel is a thing and they've been going 'we have a permanent work from home policy' for three years now and people have made employment decisions and life decisions and moved based on that policy, surely instead of lots of people quitting it's going to be lots of people suing on being forced to quit by the unreasonable sudden employment condition change. They could go on strike and organize. But this is the USA so lol.

I felt kind of OK using Twitter because unlike other platforms they at least acknowledged that social media plays a role in spreading misinformation, harassment, and extremism, and were kinda trying things to fix it. But no, some right wing jackass can't let us have even that, so into the toilet it goes. Hooray capitalism.

kw0134 posted:Actually lighting $44 billion on fire would be slower than the loss of equity as Musk puts a pillow over Twitter's face and shushes it until it stops breathing. Holy poo poo. $44 billion in dollar bills is roughly 55,000 cubic meters of dollars. There's a lot of variability in how long things take to burn, though. Dollars are made of linen and if you had a stack of one hundred of them, they'd flake up and separate as they burned, encouraging airflow. But a football stadium full of dollars winds up becoming a charcoal oven just because you can't get any oxygen to the center of it. So are the charcoal lumps at the center of of this mass still dollars? And even if they aren't, it's going to take a few weeks for the pile to either burn away or become charcoal. If we're generous with our estimates, Musk might have about a week left to beat "setting his money on fire". The really hilarious part is I think goons were wildly optimistic with how long they thought Twitter might last under Musk. At this rate, I'd give 50/50 odds of Twitter making it to the new year.
