But yeah the chief takeaway is that the world is a dangerous place and you take your life in your hands every time you walk down a flight of stairs let alone leaving your front door. Still, most of the people terrified aren’t the targets and unless you get extremely unlucky you aren’t going to be in the crossfire. I mean poo poo, I had a shooting happen within six blocks of my house a couple months ago. And if you extend the area to two miles or so there’s been a ton. But also life is normal, people are walking their dogs, kids from the apartments across the street are playing in the courtyard today cause it’s sunny, the restaurants and bars on the commercial strip a few blocks west are hopping all weekend. I’m not in NYC or Chicago but my understanding is that it isn’t much different there. I don’t like that it’s happening and it’s miserable for people who’s loved ones are killed and whose lives are impacted, but the law and order fear narrative isn’t grounded in reality Don’t feel like digging it up but the goon who posted the laundry list of nextdoor posts from the Chicago LAN thread is just lmao stupid. scamming ppp loans is fine if you are also for wiping out student debt. the main problem with omar and the rest of the squad is that the few times they had leverage to extract concessions they failed to take the opportunity because they are ultimately liberals. if this were a parliamentary democratic socialist party they would be expected to at least attempt to play some kind of politics to get a compromise for something leftish its cowardice if im being generous, and proof that they are fundamentally unserious (or in it for personal advancement) if im not being generous
