I've finally cobbled something resembling a workable, for me, Painbow modified precon.

I'm on my last 10 cards of what I should cut. I would have tried to have Jegantha be my companion to make it essentially 101 cards, but Grim Tutor is too good to pass up in a pinch, Progenitus while nice as a big beefy thing that has protection from everything I could probably take or leave it.

I pretty much cut out all basic normal lands and went for keeping the slow fetches and the conditional dual lands that came in with the deck as well as putting in the DU tapped duals that I hope to negate being tapped by having Tiller Engine our Amulet of Vigor out to keep me caught up, either that or Chromatic Lantern out. I cut out all the tapped triome lands the deck had in favor of the Lairs that are essentially bounce lands but come into play untapped.

Never realized how cheap the Lairs are, they're pretty useful. I'm open to suggestions on what I should cut out from the deck to get it to 100.

Not sure if it's on purpose or not, but one of the multicolor cards in mine had the washed-out yellow frame, and the rest had the more saturated gold. Was like flipping through actual old cards.

The retro frame Command Tower might be my favorite card, as silly as that sounds.

I'm in a EDH precon upgrade league ($20 upgrade each session), and my Kadena, Slinking Sorceror (faceless menace) deck is lagging a step behind some of the others. I've basically spent the first week getting.better ramp/lands, improving manabase, and adding some value stuff like Wilderness Reclamation, Brine Elemental, Leyline of Anticipation, Vivien, Flash Teferi (& mystical Teachings!).
The deck is actually running pretty well and has a lot of interaction, but some players have been upgrading Aesi (Reap the Tides), Prossh (Power Hungry), Miirym (they added green to Draconic Dissent) - and these decks are just so threatening - the best morphs aren't that great. I'm thinking about trying Beastmaster Ascension and Words of Wind, but beyond that not sure if I can push the power much more. Worst case isn't so bad, since I can always focus on getting the deck running as smoothly as possible, maybe sneak a win somewhere, and still have a nice fun lower-power deck; but before I resort to that, any thoughts on how to actually push the power?

It doesn't sound like you're heavily invested in black, so if you're not opposed to switching commander then my friend runs a morph-heavy Animar deck that is an absolute killer at casual tables and can pivot away from morphs as your budget grows.

Vesuvan shapeshifter is already in the precon, so I do have that combo (and can also loop it with Equilibrium or Temur sabertooth), but that's kinda the only finisher I have that can lock in a victory. Miirym and Prossh have proven to be pretty devastating thus far - I think just because there's a lack of wraths right in decks now - for Miirym basically 2 dragons is critical mass, Prossh just plays out some token synergies (Zulaport, Smothering Abomination, skullclamp, etc) and feeds them.

We're only running league this first time for November kinda as a test (one person dropped but otherwise going really well), so total budget is gonna end up at just $60 of additions, with just $40 left I think I'd just save Animar for another league (Also Kadena is pretty fun, even if there are some game closing issues).

Kurieg posted:

Obviously a solid option if I swapped to Animar, , but I don't think I'm running the ramp to commit to them.

I'll probably make sure it runs smoothly, have ways to reuse my morphs, and play loads of extra lands so I can capitalize on any slower game if my commander lasts - and see if that helps. Regardless it's a lot of fun, would recommend a league like this to anybody.

Anyone used MPCFill enough to have any thoughts on DPI? Some appear to have much higher DPIs than others, like 1200DPI to 480DPI. The higher ones seem to be all sorts of fancy printings that I don't care about. Some rando on StackOverflow says 300 is standard, so maybe it doesn't matter.

I usually do the 1200DPI ones but I wanted to use the Unfinity art for lands and I believe those were lower DPI. I'll take some photos once my order comes in.

From reddit - one of the Google drive guys reached out to mpc and they said their digital press resolution goes up to 800. 600 is probably not too bad and anything over is probably overkill unless they have upgraded in the last 4 years or so.

I think the lowest I used was 840DPI, so that's nice. Sometimes I go looking for old frame art and they're always like 480DPI so I end up changing my mind.
