this moron here wants people to do stakhanovite programming and that's not something any human can do for any sustained period lol

There's so many stories about all-weekend crunches or sleeping on the office floor, usually related to startups or games companies, people forget that working for a well-established tech company is often a really great work environment.

I was supposed to send out interview invites to some folk on Tuesday morning, but something came up on Monday evening meaning I had to take a couple of hours off the next day. So I sent them about 7pm on Monday instead. The next day my boss politely asked me not to do that again, as sending them out of hours might give candidates an impression that late hours were part of our culture.

Eventually all those dudes hosed off or were fired but their only accomplishment was forcing half the staff to go find better jobs. This is shaping up to be the worst world cup in a long drat time since maybe the second one they held in fascist italy so it could make it either worse or better for elon in terms of traffic

Somebody scores a goal and everyone in an entire nation posts 'jajajaja GOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAL' and then clicks the video to see the replay.

It's more than just high traffic, it's that the spikes are loving massive.

This futbol-adjacent discussion is going to produce millions of tweets with kinds of highly charged political commentary that could reasonably require a substantial moderation and probably language and locale-specialist staffing to handle gracefully.

I’ve had at least two managers now who just stroll into a manager position, listen to zero people in the room, make grand claims, refuse to communicate with anyone about anything, constantly change their ideas on a whim, institute stricter and idiotic requirements and guidelines, threaten everyone’s jobs for not being good enough coders despite understanding none of it, and attempt to gaslight and lie about everything at every turn.

Elon Musk is this writ large. My popcorn tastes so good.

Oh yeah the book Superpumped mentions how Uber had figured out how to track iPhones even after their app had been deleted and then they geofenced Apple HQ to try to hide it, so Tim Cook called in their founder to yell at him and it almost got them kicked out of the Apple App Store which would have been a bit of a set back.
