Why does MidJourney make such bad dinosaurs  It can make a decent T-Rex, but that's about it. And even then it does wacky things with the arms. Trying to make a triceratops just makes totally freakish monsters, even if you feed it seed images.

My guess is there's just too much terrible fan art and variety of interpretations of what various prehistoric creatures looked like. You'd think it'd still at least get the fan on dimetrodons but it tends to make it spikes (maybe because of fossils?) Probably will have to hand pick a bunch of similar pics of specific dinosaurs and train an AI on them separately to get anywhere

Just noticed that nvidia's Magic3D (AI 3d model generator) paper/video is out. Haven't had much time to follow the thread recently but I don't think it's been mentioned yet Based on the examples it seems to be best at making an isolated subject (even it it's like a house or castle) rather than complete scenes. Still pretty cool, though they say it take 40 minutes to generate a model, and presumably that's not on a single, 6 year old 1070 lol. so I go down a path of "a man walking out of a store, holding a bag of tentacles, lovecraftian, giger, beksinski, realistic photograph, 1978" and get this and go lol stable diffusion made me a mindflayer, so I upscale it then run one cycle on it with "mindflayer, beksinski"  upscaled the first pass and made some decent looking stuff, but I reran the first one on a pass with "mindflayer, dali" and got
