Just read them, you might not like them as much as Eisenhorn but imo they're still very good.

I assume there's a LOT of bolter porn in The Scouring. The traitors being chased out of the solar system for one, plus the Iron Cage.

Like, the Emperor and the Sisters and a bunch of other people knew what daemons were at that point! How did none of those people say anything?!

I mean we’re talking about the same emperor that met angron and curze and decided it’s totally fine for those obviously murderous psychos to have absolute control over a space marine legion.

All three decisions make more sense when you realise he's planning to cull the Legions in the end anyway. He would have put Magnus in the throne and quietly dumpstered the Thousand Sons, Angron had a Use By date, so that problem was going to solve itself, might as well use him while you can. Curze, well, both of them knew how that would end. They're extremely expensive living weapons, you don't throw them away unless you're absolutely sure they're worthless.

Can't disagree. There's good world-building there, but also some weird set pieces and plot 'twists'.

My personal favorite is huh, we have to nab this event manager guy for interrogation. Do we ambush him when he goes back home to sleep? Jump him when he goes to the bathroom? Fake a message to lure him somewhere advantageous to us? Nah, let's try and pull a heist to grab him during the main event of the planetary-popular show he works at! with every bigshot attending along with their security! What could possibly go wrong?

Well, both start out doing Hereticus jobs, but Eisenhorn sure does go off the deep end into the Malleus stuff, if only via doing the kind of stuff that an Ordo Malleus Inquisitor should know how to find someone doing so that they can then shoot said someone in the face. It's kind of funny that at no point do either of them actually investigate any Xenos stuff at all.

You really think Malcador at least at any point could've been like 'Um Emps, my boy, check out this poo poo Magnus is up to, demon pets man!' Kinda plays into the Horus Heresy Was Planned From The Start theories.

Also, just finished Witchbringer. Cool book! You get a glimpse of Scholastia Psykana stuff at the start which was fun. The story itself is your standard Guard vs Chaos yarn but it's a well done Guard vs Chaos yarn with a focus on the main character Primaris Psyker. I enjoyed it quite a bit actually and it was nice seeing the Primaris Psyker as something bad rear end vs. burnt out door to warp hell they're shown as (when they come up at all in books/lore). If you like guard stuff, it's a no brainer.

The easier option here is that the Emperor does not care or pay any attention to what his large adult tools are doing, as long as they keep up their genocide quotas. He already told everyone to stop that poo poo at Nikaea, job's done.

They really do need to callback to that line. When the series was meant to be a dozen books or less I'm sure they meant to have someone say it but mean the Emperor we know and love(?). A dramatic haha, an irony of sorts.

I'm guessing Horus will have a change of heart during the duel, or maybe after killing Sanguinius, and then be fully possessed/puppeted by the chaos gods at the very end, 'forcing' big E to delete him.

Though I do wish it was something more, like Dorn finding the moribund Emp, who is half-conscious and confessing to the darkest poo poo possible, and this is what breaks him and motivates him tossing his legion into the grinder for the Iron Cage. Hell, maybe even helping turn a "severely wounded" Emp into a "dead-alive" Emp before bringing him down.

I do like that an entire week of sustained, hours-long dialogues is sufficient to get them to agree to wait one week instead of one day before annihilating an entire planetary system.

https://www.warhammer-community.com/2022/11/27/sunday-preview-warhammer-40000-battleforces-and-necromunda-goons-and-goodies

Next week sees a couple of new books going up for pre-order.

First up we have the previously revealed Gotrek Gurnisson Collection.

Which did in fact come out before Soulslayer came in paperback. :sigh:

Secondly there is Hammers of Sigmar: First Forged by Richard Strachan.

Featuring the Ultramarines of the Stormcast.

Then there's Heirs of The Emperor, revealed recently as well. A 27 story anthology about the Primarchs.

Then a couple of audiobook releases in the form of Gods of Mars, Orcslayer and Rynn’s World.

And on Sunday there'll be a Black Library preview stream. Where I fully expect the last two 30k books, more books about space marines and the first book of their new epic series about Scouring to be revealed.
