No issue there, it's fine. I'm surprised the other mod doesn't post more of them, he's buried in that stuff.

It's a good watch.

I still have a weird time thinking of NBs as old, since a '99 was the first car I took out a loan to buy, and if the dealer hadn't been total assholes I might've traded it on a new unsold '04 MSM just like the one in the video, in '06.

Ooff size: huge. The NB2 was my first car I bought with my own cash money and while it was used, but younger than the average car on the road. It now stands out significantly from the crowd of giant shiny SUVs as being one of the oldest cars around unless I go to a poorer area :v: Still, at least another 10 years before it's eligible for historical car plates.

Speaking of which, Miata dad has a NOS video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VU8yoLiKptM

Autoport denies any liability. It argues BMW’s claim is grossly exaggerated and the recall unreasonable. The storage company says none of 12 vehicles it has inspected showed any sign of damage, according to court documents.

BMW argues its claim does not turn on proving any particular vehicle was damaged and says it doesn’t need the vehicles for the lawsuit. For its part, Autoport says it needs to examine the automobiles to mount a proper defence.

If I'm on that jury, BMW better be able to show me some rusty damaged BMW's is my thinking.

Yea I wish I knew more facts about this case. If this is true then yea clearly the defendant is trying to punish the plaintiff by driving up the cost of litigation and hoooo boy did it backfire. That said the idea that they have $0 value seems pretty crazy, and only exists because of the recall/crush plan created by plaintiff. Otherwise are the cars not saleable at a lower value, perhaps on a salvage title, if not for that recall?

That decision was overturned on appeal in 2021, BMW had to keep footing the storage bills themselves. I haven't found any updates to the case since then:

I'm sure some of you already know about Rufford ford, it's not a million miles away from me and yesterday it rained pretty much for 8 hours straight. As you can imagine, that's a reasonable amount of water.

Anyway the highlight of this video is the Fiat 500 at 3.15 vs a ford with almost 3 feet of water in it. :allears:

Watched this and got a YT recommend for another video of the same day:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yfnYz76KEE

In this one you get to see more context for some of the events. There's a blue Land Rover driver being a complete fuckwit - bullied someone who was hesitant about crossing into going through and getting stuck, then proceeded to gently caress with them some more by zooming through at high speed several times to make big bow waves pushing the victim and other stranded cars around. When the Fiat got stuck, there were rear end in a top hat spectators trying to goad her into going forward, but fortunately she listened to a much kinder fellow who recommended she try gently backing out instead.

I also clicked one of the fail compilation videos and holy poo poo never drive a BMW or Audi through a puddle deeper than a few inches.

There are bridges to the north and south, but an intervening golf course makes the route rather circuitous. These are people who are willfully risking hydrolocking their engines in order to save a few minutes of driving.

The water level in the stream varies a lot. Most of the time it's a couple inches or less, and it's no problem at all. After a rain, it rises quite a bit. There are signs showing the water depth so no one is taken by surprise.

There was a 3rd gen Miata make it through when the water was a solid 2ft deep in one of the videos. I thought for sure they were done for but nope.

I imagine this is all the fun some of the locals get tbh, they probably get a few quid off the rescue services for goading people to try and drive through too :v:

So again. Just build a bridge. I'm currently near a small river which has several bridges over it within a mile of each other. I don't see why you wouldn't build one there other than because the locals like to watch people destroy their cars.

Also it's a tiny little road in a little hamlet that there's no real reason to go to unless you live there. Look it up on Maps. It would be like building a bridge in the middle of Soldier Field for as useful or necessary as it would be.

I've never seen a place where you are expected to ford a river on a paved road in my life. They may exist in the US, but not anywhere I've ever been.

Seems like some backwards "oh we're so quaint, look at our ford!" poo poo.
