The most common one was “Don’t let him get away with it!”, referencing the lockdowns.

My dudes, there’s problems with Dan Andrews’ pandemic handling sure but that’s just about in the rear view mirror. It’s nearly 2023.

Edit: The more pertinent issue for the Libs is that no one knows who they are anymore. Some of my coworkers mistook Matthew Guy as the person who drove through the fence as late as last Friday.

I just googled it - welp.

According to ABC, Labor will lose 1 seat to the Greens and gain 2 off the Liberals. I gotta say the people of Victoria must be sick of Dan Andrews and his big gobbermint.

Best I can tell, someone Labor adjacent (or maybe in the party or something) who works for some org that I guess represents the poor but has a history of being really, really lovely to poor people and just recently has gone on the attack whining about lazy welfare recipients and dogpiling and trans woman for daring to question her.

These days "think tank" is what a lobby group full of brainwashed fuckwits with a horrible agenda call themselves to make themselves seem authorative. For reference, people friendly to the IPA would regularly refer to it as this before the Abbott govt demonstrated to the world what they actually are.

Yeah pretty much. The one thing I'll give him is at least he gave a very definite defeat speech, saying very straight up, fair election, I lost. Know here it's fortunately just a given, but looking at all the crap in US about "rigged election" was still very good to hear.

Far right here crazy enough as it is.

Outside a handful of kooks and small business owners, the majority attitude towards the lockdowns is that they sucked but were unfortunately necessary. Maybe it would've been different if the election was held in mid-2021, but apart from hardcore antivaxxers, nobody is going to be a single-issue voter now on an issue that's over.

head of a labor-adjacent think tank who spends a truly embarrassing amount of time (drunkenly?) yelling at poor greens supporters/anyone else to the left of labor on twitter for not really being working class, faking being poor, etc. while claiming she's the most left-wing person around and is still working class in her role as think tank head because she grew up poor, etc.

it's especially bizarre because her policy disagreements with the greens don't seem to actually be very significant, it seems to be nearly entirely tactical disagreements (she supports increasing jobseeker but thinks the greens & other activists are completely in the wrong for campaigning on "$80 a day" etc. because that's too simplistic and they just don't understand the real world) and nonsense about how the greens are an entirely upper class party.

there are other people at per capita who are very reasonable labor-left types but she's just completely deranged.

two of the seats were heavily redistributed, one to be barely notionally nationals and one to be notionally labor (and the independent retired in that seat), and the third independent apparently backed a bunch of controversial government decisions in that area including school mergers or something

so it was fairly ideal circumstances for them to win seats off the independents

From what I saw, it was nothing but the Tim Smith conspiracy grievance tour.

Liberals used to stand for freedom, Jess Wilson (LNP candidate for his seat) is trying to out-Green the Greens, Dan Andrews is a dictator and Victoria is a 1980s communist country, Greens are anti-Semitic vermin that must be exterminated, etc.

Basically a bit of every -ism, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was drunk while on that panel.
