Honestly, if they just get deep enough into their own thing then the new batch of TV-based fans won't care. Like, all the young millennials who love the Clone Wars show and all of the stuff around it, even though it was set in between the terrible Episodes 2 and 3.

I only saw the first three episodes of Andor before my Disney+ subscription expired, and I stand by my critique I wrote 9 weeks ago:

Yeah it can work to some extent, but stuff like the Clone Wars was still pretty niche and only captured a small subset of Star Wars movie fans. Andor is the least watched Star Wars show on D+, and their overall subscriber growth on the platform is rapidly slowing.

The current shake up at Disney is probably going to mean a new push for Star Wars films, and if they want to get back to making billion dollar tent poll movies, they’re going to have to figure out something to do with the overall plot to get general audiences back in theaters.

Happy Gilmore has no business being as good as it is.
Outside of the star studded cast of comic actors, how were so many incredibly dense comedic scenes not only shot but edited so fast and tight?

I'm looking at you, QoP, to weigh in.

You don't have enough posts in this thread to be that mean to Jakk. This should be a 6er tbh.

Women are wonderful animals, they should be making music and writing novels about having a complex relationship with your mother.
They should go back to doing one Star Wats movie a year, but to reduce risk they should give them each a maximum budget of 20 million.

Happy Gilmore is the only Adam Sandler movie where I like the product placement because they make it into such a giant pisstake to keep the story running.

Thats only enough money to do a murder mystery in a room, which means the only good SW movie in decades.

Edit, or a Christmas special set in modern day LA.

ABSTRACT SHAPES CREW

Were Wayne's World and Happy Gilmore the high water mark of mainstream comedy from that era? Nevermind the SNL history, neither stops for a moment with slapping you with really effectively performed humor. Hell, most times you don't have to understand the cultural connotation to get a laugh out of the gag.

for straightforward comedies I'd say those two and dumb & dumber are at the top.

Good point but what knocks D&D down for me is the toilet humor. Sure it landed at the time, but it doesn't hold up.

Wayne's World tops it for me. I also discovered recently that Alice Cooper used the concert footage featured in the film for the official music video to Feed My Frankenstein and that is awesome.

The show draws out a lot of grey but it doesn't take both sides at all, but is about the banality of evil and the complexity of what it means to do good. You see things from the perspective of people aligned with Imperials and even feel for them a bit (break the glass ceiling Dedra) but then the show makes it absolutely crystal clear whose side it's on: the terrorists.

The empire have traditionally been a bit of nazis, a bit of colonialist britain. Andor adds modern day United States to that list (well, more so than the OT I guess where the allusion was pretty vague).

Rogue One did that too. I see a scene like this:

And all I could think about was a similar sequence from a Modern Warfare game from a few years before, except the US military in the place of the stormtroopers.

But yeah, thinking about it some more, it’s probable that the failure is mostly because Disney isn’t supposed to be pushing children into a lifestyle that is unhealthy. No matter how the LGBTQ crowd tries to dress it up, we know that they have more substance abuse, partner abuse, depression, and suicide than the general population—and that’s true no matter how supportive the greater culture is.

The thing that sucks, is that as always, the execs will take the wrong lesson like when they decided putting Mars in a movie title was bad luck in the 90s and just not have openly gay characters in their films. Only openly dead from now on.

In an alternate reality, star wars 1 bombed, but lucas still wanted to make sequels. It became a roger corman production and he had to recast princess leia with monqiue gabrielle after the budget got slashed.
