I seriously think its because he gets actual genuine praise on twitter from the dorks, whereas all the people he meets in real life are uncomfortable in his presence because of his weird awkward dorky personality and he sees that firsthand. Money can't buy charm and he is completely charmless, but the kids sure do love him with his memes and emojis.

All Elon Musk's programming credentials I've seen are a BASIC program, minor credits for 3 SegaSoft games that range from awful to great, and evidently he wrote some code for PayPal (but not a lot because he did code Zip2 and the first thing the new owners did after buying it was shut it down and rewrite it from scratch). in order to be a good programmer (whatever that is) it is necessary at bare minimum that you are able to take feedback from other people - people who have credibility in the area but are not necessarily your heirarchichal equals - about your code, like "I think you approached this in the wrong way, it would be better to do it like this" kind of feedback. everything I've seen of Elon Musk leads me to think he would not take that kind of feedback well or engage with it. for that reason, having seen none of his code and not knowing the man (so take this for what its worth, which is frankly nothing) I think he probably is not a good programmer

Feels like you did everything wrong, you have to basically start over, all of your decisions are argued against. Your work is being really criticized at every level. To become a good programmer you need to listen to those around you and trust that they know what they’re talking about, even if your gut says “no they’re wrong!” You have to not just play nice but be nice and listen. This is a very high bar and Musk can’t even clear 1% of it.
