I just got a similar combo (via advanced depot) and the somewhat disappointing answer appears to be "there's an unlisted maximum of +2". Which, to be fair, is still bonkers good.

Anyone know if gamepass players can play with Steam? I know they have a whole room code system in the game that I think is specifically to support cross platform lobbies so I figured it was possible but people in Steam comments seem to think you can't.

Haven't had a chance to even try it yet. I'm down to experiment at least, unless the devs confirm you can/can't before that happens officially.

Fishstick posted:What uh, what does this mean? My gut reaction is it's a weird nerf with some edge case buffs. Working on an assumption of my own understanding of the game, my best guess is it means the damage transferred by Flower Chain used to be whatever the final damage calculation you did to the original target was based on %weapon dmg boosts, lucky shot/crit multipliers etc. Maybe it then did something funky like take that final damage value after all mods and made it the "base" damage to the chain target, and then further modified it by other things so you'd get weird damage numbers out of it? Now it appears to be deal the listed flat damage value a weapon has to the target, no modifiers I guess, or only use the applicable modifiers it should have in the first place. This is just a personal guess though, could be wildly off base.

Patch seems a little undercooked. Game's feeling a bit off and there's some definite bugs. Most obviously, try comparing a weapon with Z at the phantom peddler.

Just had a hilarious run with Fox running fire sword on R8, its actually ridiculously effective with the spirit blessing that gives a 10-stacking 30% weapon damage bonus each time you apply burning, as well as some synergy with skills that summon meteors on hit (and meteors increase next hit damage), and massive boosts to lucky shot. I was not expecting it to work out so incredibly well. It needs some RNG help for defensive scrolls like fire enthusiast and spirit feline but once you get tsome sustainability, whoa boy. I have actually seen double Phantom Peddlers as well as double Regular Peddlers. It happens really rarely, and usually causes a double take.

I'm kind okay with not always getting a craftsman, but no vault sucks. Especially early on in Tomb when you really need them to get rolling.

Given he shows up 99% of the time it's just conspicuous when he doesn't. And it's happened before when I'm flush with copper and could really use a weapon boost to help my build take off.

had probably my wildest run with fox with strive to survive I would get into a zone, press the attack button and hold it until everything was dead. started with the raging inferno spiritual blessing but ended up with so many good weapon scrolls I switched it out for flame dance in the 4th zone. absolutely erased the final boss.

I tried the new game mode. It's fun, but it's hard to do solo. Anyone in the goon group wanna play?

So the new mode is basically a horden mode then? But it seems it's well done, if it has their own balance adjustment and a unique progression system.

The 2x2 +100 shield/+100 armor spirit grid thing is absolutely 100% required unless you’ve got 10+ hours of gameplay in this mode. The benefit does decay as you get further, but you need the assistance less when you have 30 scrolls and 15 ascensions. The other good grid things • The 3x3 corpse explosion proc. You need to unlock it by killing lantern spirits. It contributes SO much damage. • The preferred weapon L-shapes. All of them are good, but the launcher one is insane. +3m explosion radius for a class of weapons that pretty often already have +2m as an affix? One launcher shot can hit an entire room! •The 2x1 +1 secondary for every 3 enemies killed. You, uh, kill a lot of dudes. It lets you spam generally powerful, scaling skills. FYADiebold and I beat it on our ~4th try with monkey (launcher spam) and bunny (fire synergy / skill spam). The final ~20% of the mode is a single-target DPS check. I don’t think it’s worth building around this, but heads-up. Oh yeah: don’t camp a single area. They will eventually swarm you and manage to alpha strike you for 1000+ damage. We lost the first few runs due to hubris (I have lifesteal and do 1M dps!) and that works until the mobs manage to sneak in your entire healthbar worth of damage in-between bullet shots. No joke.

My impressions: it's very fun. It's high octane, balls-deep action. And the 'inventory tetris' as build + random 4 options is cool. However, man, I thought I was doing pretty well and still was killed before the second mini boss (solo, so no revives). It's hard. And unlike the normal mode, there is no difficulty settings to choose.

The 100 shield/armor one is insanely strong, as dnk said. Monkey with launcher was very good for early to mid when you are getting swamped with hundreds of enemies but once it gets to the elites it isn't as good. I went fox with demonlore and against the flow(from dnk ty for that) and the special rewards I took 50% fire ignores armor/shields and then double fire damage. I ended up doing way more skill damage than gun damage. Also the 1x1 skill dmg/weapon dmg/copper on level up are very good. You get to level 30+ so by the end they have contributed a bunch Much more fast paced than when I play solo, I like it so far Fuck You And Diebold fucked around with this message at 19:34 on Nov 24, 2022 |

It can get pretty crazy, almost to Doom slaughter wad-level of carnage, with unending streams of enemies sieging you. In that sense, I'm happy they made a real 'horde' mode, that feels different enough from the base game.

Idk, feels like it needs some tweaks. Wiping out the entire skill unlock tree and then selling it back to me piecemeal as tetris buffs feels incredibly bad and in general resources feel slightly too limited and enemies scale slightly too hard. Elites especially have way too much health for solo. There's also half a dozen weird annoyances. Biggest one, even when solo the game doesn't pause when you compare weapons, so comparing and swapping out weapons is a huge nightmare but you really have no choice because unless you build for economy you can't rely on the peddler and craftsman that much. The map is full of bad corners that you can get stuck in real easily, not helped by the game in general not being built around kiting to this degree before. The enemies mostly work as hordes, but the elites particularly do not mesh well and probably the worst example are the Sharks that can spawn on top of you and hook you basically instantly or even get teleported around the map mid-hook so you get yanked by phantom hooks. Also some instances of stacked enhancement types (shielded + healing + loyal) that turn a swarm of enemies into an impenetrable mass. Though I guess my biggest problem is that the appeal of the regular game is scaling exponentially out of control and having that big "pop" moment like other roguelites, whereas this mode keeps you treading water for the duration. The new boss is okay, though nothing to write home about.

Oh yeah, it needs balance adjustments, it needs a few more times where the intensity lowers so yo have time to look at weapons on the ground, ideally it needs a pair of difficulty settings, some spawns can cause issues, etc

Yeah, horde mode without regular intervals to rest and account for your inventory or resources starts to feel very overwhelming very quickly. My friends and I did a couple of runs and we haven't managed to beat it yet. The new way perks work is kinda neat but you feel a lot less capable than in regular runs and it doesn't really feel like what I enjoy out of the game.

You can 'buy' the ability to recycle the dropped weapons but drat, with the pace as it is you can't even get close to the weapons to hold the key to recycle them!

So, yes, it's somewhat easier in coop. And well, at least in the new mode it's easier to find players for coop, because there is a single pool, it isn't split up in several difficulties. Although, their connection system it still not very good, sometimes it wouldn't find a match in 120 seconds, I cancel, try again and suddenly it finds a group of 2-3 in 2 seconds. We got carried by the bunny. 1.3B damage, drat.

I think the new glove is bugged. It does more damge than it should, like a weapon 3 or 4 levels above it. I think its' the CritX number, because it's an auto-aim weapon, it goes for the crit point and with the high rof, it does huge amounts of damage. Look at this Same weapon, but in the compare page it says 2x and in the normal page says 4x. Something wrong is going on, and I believe is that 4x CritX.

That happens due to Occult Scroll critX bonuses like Hawkeye Sight or, uh, the other one. Doesn’t show up until the weapon is in your hands.

DNK posted:That happens due to Occult Scroll critX bonuses like Hawkeye Sight or, uh, the other one. Doesn’t show up until the weapon is in your hands. Oh I guess that's why. Still, my final point stand, I feel the new gauntlet does more damage than it should, it's clearly better than the other gauntlets.

What's the secret to making the other gauntlets good, by the way? I've never had one that dealt worthwhile damage, which makes me think I should be looking for some particular quality or scroll combination or something, because I've HEARD of them whupping rear end.

Both fire/lightning one are pretty good on bunny since she just needs fast RoF to get blade stacks back. They can also be good with on hit/crit stuff (giant slayer, any create ball of x energy on crit, chance for swords/lightning on crit from bunny or cat, etc)

Is it possible to make a Prince build focused on Energy Orb? I like the character but the Primary skill seems so weak. It's a moderate amount of damage, a few seconds of freeze, and possibly infliction of elemental damage. Even with the spiritual blessing that triples the amount of projectiles, it's underwhelming. Granted, I don't know what to build toward when picking its ascensions, but what is its purpose as a primary skill?

The two biggest ways to make injectors pop off are 1) spore Gemini them with basically any mid-high damage shotgun and get lightspeed spore stacks or 2) abuse elements for all they're worth. Gemini lightning and decay together and bam, you're racking up 9 stacks of miasma on everything with ease. Fire gauntlets can lag behind slightly because no miasma potential, but they do get ramping single target damage and can melt anything with bare health if you've got a decent one. One final huge secret is the scroll Wait for Good. "Once every 10 seconds your next shot crits" sounds pretty mediocre, except injectors are special and your 'next shot' is actually the entire uninterrupted duration you hold the trigger down.

The utility ascensions are crazy good for letting you press pause on nastier enemies and stay safe. If you get the skill damage scrolls to feed it, the +damage and multi explosion ascension can be kinda good. (And there might be some way to use it to rapidly multi-proc combustion.) But Energy Blade is the better way to go if you want to translate orbs into damage. Especially if you mix in Acidic Explosion and a beefy fire sniper.
