Footage of a cockatoo dropping pot plants from an apartment balcony in Melbourne has one expert labelling it "bizarre and fascinating" behaviour.

The video, believed to be filmed on Monday morning, shows a sulphur-crested cockatoo dropping pot plants on Flinders Lane.

It was posted by social media meme page Brown Cardigan and has since received more than 1.5 million plays on TikTok and Instagram combined.

Do you often sing or whistle just for fun?

Having owned several parrots that were all fascinated with dropping items from a high shelf or bench top and watching them fall, this doesn't seem strange to me :buddy:

Yeah I've come home to find all my pot plants on the ground, guarantee it was the cockies as we have a flock in a nearby tree. They'd probably do it while taunting my cat who is watching from a nearby window. I don't feed them and (rightfully IMO) it's against council laws to feed them or have a bird feeder (other than just native plants)

Ended up using rope to make little balcony shelves so the plants can't fall off as easily.

I was about to say the same, both of mine love flinging things off high spots and tilting their head to watch it fall. Bonus points if it's metal and shiny and makes lots of noise. They could only dream of having the power to pull entire pot plants though.

Well, somehow landed a job. Two days a week at a computer shop in town, should hopefully be enough for my to physically deal with but most importantly it gets Centrelink/lovely JSAs off my back.

Hope I don't gently caress it up!

I like the cooler weather, but can't help thinking that all the extra rain and moderate weather at this time of year is going to lead to growth that is going to be an absolute enormous fuel load the next time we inevitably have a long hot year again.

Also lol psycho storms that knock out tens of thousands of homes powers in Adelaide FFS but hur dur climate change isn't real.

Sort of. Unfair dismissal laws don't apply during the probationary period but unlawful dismissal laws do. The claim must be lodged within 21 days of dismissal, though.
