then again ~art is subjective~

It's easily my favorite story of any of his movies, but I'm also sort of a sucker for Zweig and his romantic notions of early 20th century Austria-Hungary. Like most of Wes's movies though I think it sinks or swims on how much the viewer finds his particular style endearing vs trite/annoying.

Of all of these, The Florida Project is the one I won't forget. Sean Baker is great and has much more interesting taste than most of these auteurs. Interested in seeing his S&S list if he participated.

yeah it's probably my favorite of his too. solid move all around, minimal amounts of twee, and cool austrian aesthetic that i very much enjoyed that period piece.

French Dispatch could have been replaced with a loop of Owen Wilson saying "Wes Anderson" over and over for 90 minutes

Seriously though it had some cool parts but its condescending attitude toward radicalism made me roll my eyes

At least as far as a lot of Soviet cinema goes, Mosfilm's YouTube channel puts up a bunch of high-quality transfers. Andrei Rublev, Come and See, The Ascent, etc. are all on there for free.
