There are a bunch of video game related mecha kits out there but it's really a matter of digging into the net to find something you like and then digging even deeper to find a reasonable way to buy it if it's still available :v:

If you want to throw away an hour or two looking at things then give this a try.

it would be cool if they made kits of the mecha from Xenosaga/gears but I've never seen any :\

and there's the DitFranxx two robots which are cool, the Xenoblade 2 Siren kit which I want too, (oh my god all the other gurren ones are like $350 wtf?)

It's too bad the Guren and the others with the same base frame just look unpleasantly wide.

Edit: P-Bandai released a metal build Guren Type-Special, so that's why it's super expensive. Probably.

Good Smile put out some Gurren Lagann kits a few years ago under the Moderoid line. Bandai did Code Geass a while back too and reprints them occasionally.

Well, that aligns with the vibes I was getting. Which was, like, "normal" kinda vibes.

The Epyon on the left was built maybe 15-20 years ago, when I first was picking up kits at Barnes and Nobel or w/e. The 30 Minute Mission Rabbit in the middle came from me deciding on a whim to enter the hobby shop next to my barber's shop. It rekindled my interest and I dig it. The Wing Gundam on the right came from an unfinished kit that I had bought at the same time as the Epyon, I had just never really cracked into it. It was a nice distraction since this is the worst time of year to try and indulge an expensive hobby. The two Gundam figures feel kind of rinky-dink, and whatever I build next I'd like to be a little hardier.

Soon, I want to build this guy

so I can prepare myself to build this guy

I don't know anything about painting or airbrushing models, so I'm sticking to projects that don't require much post-construction detailing where possible. The Front Mission wanzer set might be something that pushes me to learn a new skill, though.

Three more done, now I only have HGAC Shenlong and RG Tallgeese EW to do, and then I'll have no more gundam backlog. (except when I come back to paint/weather them)

I have to say I'm getting kind of tired of HG quality gundams, and on some of these later runners the various bits are reused from the similar kits, which I get but is kind of a bummer, they just go in a bag for now while I throw out the runners

I know I'll want to get some action bases but god drat I'm going to have to spend $10 each for 8 gundams :negative:

I'm excited to see what you think of the RG Tallgeese. It was my first RG and I had a blast, though the parts get super tiny.

And yeah, HGs can get samey after a while, especially in the same series.

I haven’t tried them, and they’re a little spendy, but there’s a variety of Morstorm 1/9 scale Iron Man suit kits that should probably count as mecha, and they look gorgeous from the store display models I’ve seen.

Nineball Seraph, no less. The ultimate form of the unstoppable number 1 Raven.

His fight in Another Age is still something else. I won on my first real go-round... but by the end, I had no ammo, no decoys, and one point of armor. Got to love a fight like that, you know?

If aesthetics and height are of no concern, Action Base 5 comes with the ability to mount two Gundams per base. And when there's more budget for extra bases it'll still be an Action Base...

Get a good 3mm wire and you can use one action base for as many gundams as will fit.

Here I think I got away with it because at first glance the issues look like deliberate shading. I also had that arm piece in the do-not-paint pile and may go back and correct that at some point.

An actual action base 5 is only around 5 bucks, so that's not much savings unless you're buying a ton of action bases.
