Very confused on whether I'm supposed to be cheering for England, the African EU haters, or some kind of god or king, or saying "I am milk" to a confused Spaniard. Is this what happens to your brain when you try to grow concrete in your meth lab?

I can confirm that when I accidentally heard that the numbers coming out of the ball performance were the wrong numbers, I nearly spilled my extra vegan double soy latte with my own cum in it

forkboy84 posted:https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2022/dec/05/risky-online-behaviour-almost-normalised-among-young-people-says-study quote:An EU-funded study found evidence of widespread criminal, risky and delinquent behaviour among the 16-19 age group in nine European countries including the UK. This is a drop in the crime figures. The most accurate figures are self reported and all this is showing is that adolescent crime, the highest form of crime by a huge margin if you ignore white collar, is moving away from the two brackets of graffiti/vandalism and drugs/violence and towards the internet. This is loving fantastic because it's a shift to non-visible non violent crimes that won't get kids sent to detention centres and prison. I'm not saying hate speech online is great but that these are the exact same kids who would be peer pressured into hanging around outside shops yelling slurs at people, which often escalates to violence if it's a LGBT+ person. There is a curve with crime, the adolescent crime curve, which is uniform since any records began, which shows crime rates start to go up age 13, peaks at 19 and is dropping right back down at 22. It is directly effected by what is going on in the social environment at the time, high resentment towards the police and more police cars get vandalised, not much going on then back to the old classic of bus stops getting smashed up for example. We want whatever the current generation of little shits is to be pirating music.

If you want to know more about what those figures mean then Criminology a very short introduction by Tim Newburn is a couple hundred pages of super packed in information, he does have to both sides a bit but does it sarcastically and throws in some quotes from communists.

Aipsh posted:There are legal firms in Germany who buy lists of people who are currently (probably unknowingly) seeding literally any media on P2P and make a business of sending them legal threats and rinsing you for money on behalf of whatever media company is impacted and they do it constantly. I know a couple of people who got nabbed for fuckin Black K Klansman being seeding for around five seconds after downloading it (because they couldn't get it legally anywhere) and had to pay 1,200 euro to make them go away. This is why I bought a VPN subscription. I also think a lot of the VPNs will hand over your data if asked. Nord is one of the safer ones. Also remember reading doing that might not be entirely legal, or at least it wouldn't have a leg to stand on. In Finland anyway.

I refuse Nord on principle because they do so many obnoxious sponsored Youtube segments. No-one who spends that much on marketing is actually the best option.

I feel I hardly ever see Nordvpn commercials anymore. But the articles I read on the subject pointed them out as one of the ones who actually did what they claim. IIRC ExpressVPN wasn't that secure.

I think this thread recommended AirVPN one time and they've served me well for years - and I think they have a strict no-cooperation policy with data requests and don't keep any logs of activity.

"Goblin mode is a neologism for rejecting societal expectations and living in an unkempt, hedonistic manner without regards to self-image" This is like when I didn't throw out all my old metal t-shirts from the 80s and the thing I was doing already became fashion

I went to uni with a guy who came in wearing a cowboy hat and a big trenchcoat, and also a lass who came in dressed like cloud from final fantasy 7. I thought both of them were cool. pumpinglemma posted:I refuse Nord on principle because they do so many obnoxious sponsored Youtube segments. Everyone on youtube started flogging that stupid "buy land in scotland and call yourself a lord" scam and it's bizzare how many people apparently think it's real and also that it's still around because I remember it being a thing decades ago.

Fun fact, I used to build the servers for Putlocker more than a decade ago, when I worked for their DC provider. They were the dodgiest business I'd ever come across, paying something like $800,000/month via paypal, on a month-to-month contract. One day FACT arranged a meeting with my employer and I was instructed to lie and say I knew nothing about Putlocker.
