I can’t imagine the Olympics going for an even larger mess after everything this has turned out to be. Qatar is just too small. Now a Gulf petro-states joint bid…

at least many of the middle east countries hate each other that a region joint bid between them is impossible. however the saudi arabia ioc slush fund for 2030 is already in progress.

The answer is, mate, because I want to do you slowly. There has to be a bit of sport in this for all of us. In the psychological battle stakes, we are stripped down and ready to go. I want to see those ashen-faced performances; I want more of them. I want to be encouraged. I want to see you squirm.

seriously. If you thought playing a football match in the Qatari summer was impossible, try running a marathon...

The 2019 World Athletics Championships we’re hosted in Qatar, they were held in late September and had the marathons starting at midnight - and they were still 30 C/70% humidity and had tons of athletes drop out. The track-hosted events were air conditioned and alright, but the marathons and such were a nightmare.

So it’ll happen, naturally.

While we're on the subject of Middle Eastern Olympic bids, lets remember the Saudi bid that would have had all of the women's events in Bahrain

They should just rename the events the Temperate Olympics and the Arctic Olympics so they can be held at whatever time of the year — and time of the day — suitable for the hosting country.
