I grew up around a lot of mental illness and criminality and it’s hard for me to ever see an individual as genuinely in control of themselves. Kanye should get knocked out, but I can also feel sympathy for the man. Also any genuine feeling I can muster at this point would be directed at Nick.

I think that people have a hard time squaring away the fact that Kanye West, a black super famous musician, is now a Nazi. I think we try to make up reasons in our head about how he couldn't possibly be a Nazi or that he's been brainwashed or whatever. Ye is an unrepentant Nazi and it's been a very strange year indeed.

"History is written by the victors" is a phrase that annoys me to an unreasonable degree. History is written by the people who can write. For much of history, literacy is afforded only to a select few and written history is shaped by the motives of those who were recording it. Those social classes don't just vanish after conquest! Administrators, clerics, merchants – those would stick around when the Lord/King/Emperor got replaced. And even now, the interpretation and recording of history happens in classes that don't map to who wins or loses wars! Grrrr.
