This is also why you never eat at fancy restaurants with big menus. You 100% are going to get sick from the unrefrigerated food since it's not like they're making all 200 things on the menu fresh every day. Little places with more limited menus keep the product moving so your meat's only been sitting out unrefrigerated for like one day. No big deal. Anecdotally, things are looking pretty bad in Beijing! Within the last couple of days 5 people I know have become sick or positive and the vibe is everyone's just kind of assuming that they're about to get infected. Entertainment venues are all ostensibly open as of today as long as you have a test result within 48 hours, however all of the old testing sites have been closed down within the last 2 weeks or so, leaving a lot of people unsure where to go (online information about testing sites is all outdated of course). Some new stations have cropped up inside residential compounds but they appear to be run very poorly. Lots of reports of test results not coming through, and a bunch of people including myself just got a text message saying that local test samples have all been mixed up so they can't give any results.

As in, given popular mood, they didn't think they could get away with what would have been needed to contain the current surge, so they didn't try. Anyway, everything is about to be hosed.

I think the CCP will lie, as usual, but videos will slip out despite censorship. We'll probably never get good data out of this coming wave (some are expecting a "tsunami" of cases, rather than a wave), but I think our best bet will be seeing videos from hospitals. The hospital system before the pandemic was a mess, not to mention everyone running to the hospital for the sniffles and taking up space and getting IVs and what not. I heard OTC medicine is already being panic purchased countrywide. Yeah I used the same 3M respirator for pollution in China as I do when I go to the store in the US. Though over time I used it less and less in China since it was kind of pointless, the windows are all open at work, there's no air filter, and I can't teach with it on so I'm just breathing poo poo all day anyway. At least I had my apartment sealed up as best as possible and had air filters running all the time.

At least I had my apartment sealed up as best as possible and had air filters running all the time. On this point, I have been in Japan, teaching, since March this year, and I have to wear a mask pretty much everywhere and all the time. Including when in the classroom teaching. All the kids are wearing masks too, (I teach both JHS and ES, and even the Elementary School kids are masked up.) So you can teach whilst masked. Of course these masks are COVID related, and you have to wear them in Japan, (the government rules are always changing, but the rule of politeness requires you to be fully masked up inside when you are around people). As opposed to China, probably a few years back pre-plague times when you were wearing your anti-pollution mask in a school that was probably telling you to take it off so the kids could see your face. But my point is ... I dunno. But I'm not contradicting you, just wanted to say that you can teach masked without any real hassle, and I am currently and have been doing so for almost the last year.

I think the key point is, you are talking about (disposable) masks, and he is talking about a (reusable) respirator. I've been teaching asked for a while now, with no problems beyond annoyanc. I've also got a respirator, but because it lacks a speaking membrane, I'm probably not going to be able to use it that way.

If you have those cartridges, the 7093 filters are superior for the application - smaller, lighter for comfort, don't degrade chemically over time, splashproof, cheaper. And most importantly, have a hidden seal check feature (if you compress the whole case with your hand) which is arguably the most important feature of a respirator since it helps keep trained in what an airtight seal feels like. \/\/ Unlike with a KN95, the straps belong nowhere near your ears. It sounds like your plastic halo piece was adjusted to the wrong size for your head. Fixable maxwellhill fucked around with this message at 03:43 on Dec 10, 2022 |

I just do a seal check by covering the cartridges with my palms, works fine.god please help me posted:Where can I buy those masks from? I'm going to take a plane trip, and I know someone is going to share some rona with everyone on board. You can get them on Amazon or any like DIY building supply store will have them. Lowe's, Home Depot, Menards, whatever. If I were buying a new one I'd prob get the secureclick: https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/respiratory-protection-us/products/secure-click-respirators/ Seems easier to deal with (the cartridges pull air from both sides for more comfortable breathing) plus it has a speaking diaphragm and built in seal check button. It's a bit more expensive, but if you're just using it for covid protection you don't have to swap the cartridges for a long time. They don't get gunked up like if it's protecting you against paint fumes or coal ash or whatever. Grand Fromage fucked around with this message at 03:47 on Dec 10, 2022 |

Counterfeit cartridges have been discovered on Amazon, and even official sellers have their products binned together with others at the Amazon warehouse. It's much better and equally cheap to use the websites of big 3M wholesalers such as Zoro.com, Grainger.com, Maxwell Products, etc. Start with a model like a 3M 7502 (7501 if your face is very small, 7503 if it's enormous). Being silicone makes it only a couple bucks extra and it will seal airtight much more reliably, more comfortably, and not prone to the rubber changing over time. So again, 7500 series mask (30 bucks or so), 7093 series cartridges (each pair can be reused daily for months), and some glasses since your eyes have ACE2 receptors as well. e: I recommend this mask over the 3M's "secure click" model above, because this is far lighter for neck muscle strain, also silicone, fits sane common standard cartridges unlike the secure click, and also the secure click's speech diaphragm is very underwhelming in its benefits, projecting sound that's barely higher quality than this, or not even better than a lovely GVS ellipse respirator which has no diaphragm. edit 2: If anyone wants a 20% off coupon code for Zoro.com you can have one: NW120BK641L1 \/\/ No don't do that lol, just yell maxwellhill fucked around with this message at 04:02 on Dec 10, 2022 |
