I've never sat in a showroom car where there was a key anywhere near it. The person in the car is an idiot, but just from like a safety/security thing, the dealership hosed up.

Do leccy cars make you stand on the brake to switch them on like a lot of ICE auto cars do? If so then this is doubly funny. Clown just mashing on the go pedal.

My Volt needed brake to switch the car on, and the brake needs input to shift out of park in a Tesla.

That clip is just terminal stupidity.

I still remember pulling the fenderliner on my E36 and digging out 10 pounds of the highest quality soil I have ever seen. It must have been composting itself for years behind there, its own perfect little ecosystem of rainwater and wet leaves, refreshed, shaken, aerated and warmed up every day.

 Same deal with my Hawkeye WRX. Should've kept the soil but it was probably full of salt too. First picture is after I had already gotten most of it out and started seeing the horror underneath.

On a similar note, I parked my old Ranger under a tree for a semester and came back to this:

Story on how VW's software is extra poo poo. CEO of the group is apparently outlining a revised software strategy tomorrow "the meeting has been described by outlets as a 'reality check'..."

But a group spokesman also said "our NEW AUTO group strategy sets out a clear roadmap up to 2030 for us to become a sustainable software-oriented mobility provider..." which sounds awful.

"Software will become the new differentiator."

Well, yes, but not the way this dweeb means. If it's good software, or at least decent, it won't be noticed. If it's bad software, oh, yeah, for sure.
Just, you know, make the car functional as a car, including the software? And please ditch the damned capacitive buttons.

Guess that crab-walk feature isn't all that new and different.

Wasn't the "Dieselgate" scandal essentially a software function, though? It was software functioning as intended that allowed them to fly a little too close to the sun.

Yeah I don't think of VW when I think of "buggy or half-assed software". I think of VW when I think of software that's designed to intentionally cheat at some law or test.

To that point, I wonder if their software verification process confirmed that the cheat worked, or if it intentionally was holey and didn't check for it.

The original software limitation was a testing only design that Bosch released, VW just took it and ran with it if I recall correctly.

So yeah, they know how to do good software, but I don't know how that'll translate into software vs ECU/CANbus devices.

Hi there, would you like to try some spicy products?
Well it didn't translate all that well into MGU / general infotainment software, so that's not a good start.

I drive a Seat Leon FR, so basically a rebranded Golf, and while the ride & handling, comfort, quality and performance of the thing exceed my customer expectations, the software is buggier that poo poo i see in the early prototypes I drive for work at a different auto producer.

You need to be able to buy services from the manufacturer via OTA purchases.

Automobiles aren't a product, they're a service. Get with the times, man.
