Looks pretty fun, I applaud their conviction of making it entirely in French. I genuinely think Netflix (and streaming in general) is leading to non-english language movies becoming more mainstream and I'm super happy about it.

Least surprising director name reveal ever. Not in a bad way, I just went "ah yes, obviously." I should watch his previous movie when I get the chance.

Interesting. I know people who worked on this movie and NOBODY would tell me what it's about because they were all sworn to secrecy and had to sign big NDAs. Which is a bit abnormal, because everyone will usually shoot the poo poo around the campfire and tell you what they're working on but this was big "no I can't talk about it at all" energy. I have a feeling I'm going to be completely let down.

Weird. Especially since it’s not part of a known franchise. Who is gonna be that curious?

Hahah yeah. I was like "uhh...okayyyy." I mean it's a movie whose plot will be revealed in a trailer. I've known people to be really cautious around sets that have big twists or surprise cameos... but like the general plot? Seems overkill.

That's usually the case when a movie reaches its fifth release date.

That's a goddamn good monologue, and a goddamn good voice acting performance on it. The emotion of that sold me on the movie in a way that no visuals ever could.

I love Sony rocking the boat with this and Mitchells vs The Machines. It's a welcome reprieve the usual Pixar stuff.

Am I crazy though or wasn't that movie teased as Across the Spider-Verse Part 1 months ago? I didn't see the Part 1 in the trailer so did they scrap plans to make it a multi-part movie or something?

I loved the first Spiderverse (and Mitchels vs The Machines), but I worry that a lot of that was Lord & Miller who are just exec producers on the sequels. Also, a lot of the fun of the first movie was that it was a focused self-contained story, coming after a decade of interconnected superhero movies where each installment wastes a bit of time on its interconnected threads. So hearing that the sequels are two-parters with the first possibly having a 3-hour runtime? Hmm.

I mean I'm still seeing this on day one, but I'm tempering my expectations a little.

On numerous car trips back from Vegas when passing the dinosaur statues (from Pee Wee movies) I used to joke about aliens visiting earth in the jurassic period and then going back home and saying DO NOT GO TO EARTH IT'S FULL OF GIANT DEMON DRAGONS and and frankly I'm just happy it got made. You're welcome

also I don't know what it is about Adam Driver's voice but it is captivating.

What a horrible thread to have a post.
Adam Driver has "the juice", the screen presence, charisma, whatever you want to call it. He's a real-rear end movie star despite looking like an old boot with a mop on top.

As for Jurassic Black (Pitch Park has better alliteration but is less clear on the mash up) I'm totally game, will see in the theater, it looks like mid-grade genre sci-fi which is honestly where the action happens nowadays.

So, if my reading of pop culture is working today, my guess is that it's going to turn out he's NOT on earth 65 million years ago. There's going to be some other twist.

Here's my guess
His collision with the "unknown asteroid" accidentally knocks it off its collision course with Earth and the extinction event doesn't happen.
He will end up using something nuclear from his ship to still cause an extinction event.
Adam Driver will die, but before that he will somehow find a boy survivor.
Boy and Girl survivor grow to adults and end up becoming "Adam and Even."

Either that or he somehow detects the asteroid and it's a race against time to get off the planet before it hits.
